Perhaps Sonic and Snake are all we're getting.

Not that I'm complaining, don't get me wrong. Upon further unnecessary (and ultimately unsatisfying) inspection of the E for All videos, this caught my eye:

This is a screen of the Super Smash Brothers Brawl title screen seen in a video I've long forgotten the name of. This is obviously a small, cropped portion of it, but that's because this is the only portion relevant to this post. Here is lists the companies taking part in Brawl.

You'll notice the familiar developers. Ape, Creatures, Hal Labs, etc. Then you'll notice the new, third party developers, Sega and Konami. But only Sega and Konami. One could argue that a third guest character was not shown in the demo, and therefore had no reason to be credited, but that is easily knocked down by pointing out Snake wasn't in the demo either.

This is my first post, I'll admit, I came from Nsider. If anybody else is from Nsider, maybe you'll recognize me by my sig... (Which doesn't appear to exist at the moment. Don't listen to me, I lied.)

Actually, on the dojo, the copyrights were updated with Sega when Sonic was revealed! I'm assuming so people that look hard into things (read: us) wouldn't know until the time was right.

So we will most likely be getting more. And welcome to the boards!

That's a good point, I never thought of that. I did know that Sakurai updated the copyrights along with the updates themselves, but I didn't seem to make a connection. Hmmm...

Why would Sakurai put copyright credits for things that officially are "not there"? It would be giving things away. Like many said, Sakurai didnt have SEGA on the site until Sonic was revealed, because before that, nothing from SEGA was on the site...

PS: About Konami being there without Snake, theres a difference: we know Snake is in the game...

I'm not convinced there will be more but it's not like they would put the company of an unannounced character there...

No it isn't, you're assuming that because only those two characters are credited, that's all we are gonna get in third parties, don't try to outsmart yourself.
You clearly do not fully understand the definition of the word perhaps. Which is funny, because you can somehow know what I'm thinking better than I do.

Listen, I wrote the thread, I think I know why I wrote it. There is no discussion value in an assumption, this was something to think about. Not a decided fact.

If you're going to flame, flame well.

Maybe you don't understand what assumption is, is supposing without proof, exactly what you're doing here.

prop·o·si·tion
1. the act of offering or suggesting something to be considered, accepted, adopted, or done.

as·sump·tion
1. something taken for granted; a supposition

Although similar, one has discussion value. This was a thought to bring up, an idea. Something to be argued or supported. Stop arguing with me over what my own intentions were...

Also, the picture was the support for my idea, so people like you couldn't say "Picz or it di'n't happen!!1" or "proof plz?"

At least you use grammar, I admire you for that.

It's a fair assumption, though it may say a few things. As far as I would understand it, they have no legal obligations to make mention of other developer's whose characters are not yet in (or confirmed) the game. Consequently, if all other characters are of Nintendo intellectual property, the individual studio that developed it may not necessarily be named.

It may also be based on the contractual agreement that outlines the use of the character. Eg: Konami's Snake is a pretty big title, so they may have negotiated up-front mention while not quite so big names might not have cared so much.

Pure speculation, though.
