they just need to get good at the game. i think its a typical excuse from someone who dont like a game just because he isnt good at it
It's mainly just a bad cultural image of what videogames represent, especially when people get into all the advanced stuff of a game, it scares people away. Mix that with a culture that pushes you away if you display anything unmanly such as being a "nerd" who is good at games even though you can balance your life easily across games and everything else, and you get people afraid to look bad and hurt their egos because they think someone else will make fun of them for playing so many video games.
I mean jeez... for example my ex-girlfriend had to deal with me playing games pretty often when other friends were around, stuff like NES Megaman games that only true gamers (ie nerds haha) still play, but it didn't matter, because my life didn't revolve around gaming and she could accept that it was a hobby I really enjoyed.
These days though, my life pretty much does revolve around gaming.
