What some options Falco has to beat out down smash I know laser and to NOT go near a CCing peach with SHFFLD aerials but what about just punishing it. Also which way is the best DI against in?

Best thing to do is just bait out the dsmash. There are multiple ways of doing this, especially when the Peach is down-smash happy and resorts to it if you happen to get close to her. Approaching lasers to wavedash/dash-dance back can make Peach feel threatened enough to input dsmash. If Peach sees you approaching from above, she will most likely crouch cancel. You can shorthop/fullhop to waveland back to change up your approaches. With stages with platforms, you can do this much easier by jumping right before you land on Peach and wavelanding on platforms.

As for punishing it, just do what you normally do depending on their percent. A whiffed downsmash is easy to punish since it lasts so long. And NEVER DI down or come from below a Peach on a platform because you will suffer a lot of percent damage. Just DI up and away.

Shine has frame one invincibility so just time that right. But seriously, do what KevJames suggested, and the exta benefit of punishing even just a few whiffed down smashes is then you get in the Peach's head which is super useful.

The best thing to deal with down smash is just don't bother trying to beat the move. Just force her off platforms with lasers and more lasers to make her approach you. The worst thing you can do is approach a peach from below a platform. Down smash will just **** you up and you have to respect the move. To many Falco mains try to play really technical and not enough Falco mains utilize his laser game. I used to not laser a lot but good players will make you regret not using his lasers a lot. About ways to punish it you can short hop fast fall under platforms to bait her Dsmash then just punish with a full hop aerial (situational about what aerial you use). You can also wave dash out of shield and go for a shine. If they shield the shine you can shine grab.

Her head is vulnerable during the move. At low percents you can dair > shine her and at mid to high percents you can also bair and nair her out of the move. Just watch out for usmash mixups.

If she's doing CC dsmash, bait it out or don't do things easily CCed (or shoot lasers, lol). Dair can beat it at 0 (don't do it too high), shine can beat it, dtilt and bair can beat it after some percent. If you have the opportunity to grab her, you can do that too. If she doesn't try to move after CC, you can do other things provided you're fading back or well spaced, and punish dsmash with whatever you want.

If she's attempting FC aerial dsmash/whatever mixups, hit her if she's not starting a fair, not floating back, and close enough to hit from an immediate short hop out of dash forward when you're making you're decision (but you don't have to use an aerial). If she is starting a fair roll or wavedash in the direction that would put you farthest (or far enough from to not get hit and give you the best position) from where she'd land if she would start falling right then or is currently falling, or simply dashdance punish, or laser her out. If she isn't in range or is moving back, just wait and try to get the best position you can or punish something dumb she does. If you try to challenge her air to air, just slightly above max SH laser height means you can uair, lower means fair, a little lower means nair.

If she's dsmashing on platforms or something, don't approach from below. SH uair may be able to safely poke her from certain heights, and you may be able to crouch under certain lower platforms on FoD. Feel free to experiment with this.

Basically, try to not get into the situations where you're being dsmashed.
