A hobby of mine, parkour is the most bad*** sport ever, and the only thing the french ever did right. Does anyone else here parkour? Just so you know it is extremely physical, and one specified workout makes my arm's feel like they're on fire. This sport builds confidence and character though, so please check it out.

Edit: before someone asks what parkour is, please, check this website

Lol, free running developed from parkour, but free running is based more on style than efficiency. I think it takes more discipline though.

If you want to start go to americanparkour.com and then get some good shoes. Make sure they have excellent grip

Oh did it? That's cool. Do you need a trainer or anything or can you just go out there and start running away from imaginary enemies?

You don't need a specialized trainer, there are tutorials on how to everything step-by-step, and brutal training routines. I personally prefer to exercise in the morning and at night, 15 pull-ups, 30-40 push-ups, 10 reps of whatever I can bench, then lunge until I can't feel my legs anymore.

lots of people dont have weights and are too poor to get a gym membership so i advocate a weightless workout.

first i pyramid 12 pushups, meaning i do one, rest 20 seconds, then do 2, then rest 20 seconds, then three, all the way up to twelve pushups. then i rest a minute, and start back down, doing eleven, resting 20 seconds, back down to one.

that makes you do 144 pushups in less than 15 minutes.

i take a break and then try and do as many diamond pushups as possible, my arms are so tired at this point i can usually only do like 5, but it goes a long way to strengthen those triceps a little more.

pyramid 3 overhand pullups, then pyramid 3 widegrip overhand pullups, and then pyramid 3 narrow grip pullups.

i would also do dips after this, maybe like 3 sets of however many you can do, but i dont have any conveinient places to do em.

this will get your arms ripped if you do it everday

I've done it for a while, wasn't progressing very much because I was scared to bail. And finally when I got some progression, I was able to do some vaults, I bailed BIG TIME when trying a saut de chat(face hitting the ground before anything else). I could do it if the next platform was higher or as high as the platform you jumped from(get it?:p). Anyway, this time I tried it the other way around, and shoe stuck behind the edge meaning I landed face first on the ground. After that I just didn't really have the courage to continue because the fear of falling was back in my system.

This was about a year ago.

Now I'm considering getting back at it, also because I feel more confident now(not afraid of falling, at least, way less than I used to be), and I've got the feeling I can control my body better now than I could back then.

Fear is so frustrating when it's paralyzing you. :(

A friend and I started to get into this a while ago, and we had fun with it. Our schedules with work nowadays are so irregular in comparison that we hardly have any time to hang out anymore, and it's kind of boring to do it on my own.

But hell yeah it is awesome.

I hope you guys get back into it. After only a week my body is ripped. Do say 3 sets of 10 pull ups, then 30-40 push up, a mile run, and 60-100 sit ups every morning and evening. Feels great

If any of you sadists out there wanted to know how I bailed, here's a little movie of someone else bailing about the same as I did:

At 0:28... only this guy seemed less harmed than I was :p.

Parkour is sickkk, though I don't actually get into it myself. I'm not agile or flexible enough for that stuff.

Maybe when I'm a bit older..
