Paper Mario: Should it be it's own franchise(icon)?

Paper Mario is no doubt separate from the rest of the Mario series. Other games that have been separate from the main series (Yoshi, Donkey Kong) and have their own franchises have had separate icons, while one (Dr. Mario) has not.

So if Paper Mario was included, would his series have the Mushroom icon, or something else? And if it was it's own series, would he be the only rep? I think if it's a separate icon, the should include:

Paper Mario
Count Bleck

Bleck is the most recent Paper Mario villian. What do you think?

That would be interesting If they made a Paper Mario character set...there are a LOT of unique and original characters to pick from there, as for what the icon would be i have no idea lol....maybe a book?

Heck no. It is not its own franchise in any way, its just a subset of Mario's franchise - it even stars the exact same characters. The only difference is the genre (RPG rather than Action/Adventure) and art style (2-D characters rather than 3-D).

And incidentally, the DK franchise was never a part of Mario's. Mario was spun off of DK's series - the first game he appeared in was the 1981 arcade classic Donkey Kong, under the name of "Jumpman." He started under his own series two years later, and Donkey Kong has never made an appearance in a true Mario game (just the sports/party games, due to their common origins).

If Paper Mario gets included in Brawl, it should at most be in the form of Assist Trophies. Certainly the only playable character it needs is already in, and thats Mario himself.

No, they probably won't be playable.
But if they include WW Link, then I want Paper Mario, so we have 2 cartoony characters.
But if Paper Mario has a stage, I think the logo would still be the mushroom.

Paper Mario playable in Brawl is not a good thing, he's Mario and so Sakurai shouldn't include characters twice, it would just make rivaling companies or Nintendo haters criticize Brawl like they did with Melee.

My thoughts exactly.

if paper mario gets in (I dont think he will get a PC spt, probably an AT, along with toher Paper Mario characters, also, how would he fit in SSE, as even if he is paper, he is indeed mario, but he could be in, I didnt though that PT was going to be, and look what happen lol, is not that I dopnt like him, it just like daisy,I dont think it has a high chance), I think he would get his own symbol, 'couse "Paper Mario" its another franshise, it could probably be Tippy :O. People say that if Paper mario doesnt get in, no paper mario will get in, though characters like Bleck can be easly be turn as an AT (using his big black hole that suck characters in, and you have to run out of the hole in a similar was as you did in Super Paper Mario). Also characters like Bleck (I like him as an AT though),or Dimentio and others can be PCs and be made 3D, it is not hard :p.

Also it is its own franshise, it is made by another company or whatever, and not all paper marios are RPG, Super Paper Mario isnt.

No, it isn't. It was developed by Intelligent Systems, which is a part of Nintendo (they're the guys who make Fire Emblem and Advance Wars). And yes, Super Paper Mario is an action/adventure game, which only makes it less different from the Super Mario games, not more. There is no possible way it can be argued to be its own franchise, any more than you could call the Mario Party games their own franchise.

Yes, having two Mario's with different names is completely illogical, whereas, having two Mario's in different covered overalls makes sense. I see what you are saying, but I think that Nintendo haters (aka, Halo fanboys) will probably say that the game is too childish or some such nonsense if they wanted to insult the game.

Paper Mario is separtate from regualar Mario in a sense. They are not, in the least, a separate franchise from Mario games, but are different enough to be given a separate icon. The gameplay is different, the art style is different, and the comedy is different.

Being separate franchises is exactly why different icons are assigned - hence why Wario Ware has its own icon, while Diddy Kong doesn't (in spite of having Diddy Kong Racing). The differences you pointed are the same ones I did: different genre (in 2/3 of the games) and art style (comedy hardly constitutes an inherent difference in the games). Not nearly enough to be a separate franchise.

The Mario RPG' are great and need representation but representation doesnt just come in the form of playable character solts.

Im hoping for Geno as Playable, Mallow as an AT, Paper Mario and Mr. L as a skins/alt costumes and Count Bleck as a boss in the SE (although I think thats pushing it).
