P2P

Good
-Less frame delay (depending on were you live)
-Faster, smoother game-play
-Better for people that don't live near the main servers
-For normal connection from America to China the max ping on there will be up to 11 at most if they live somewere in china (if on normal connection, no slow *** ****)
-Less DS

Bad
-Hard to find people to P2P
-Got to open ports (*******es don't know how to)
-Only 1v1.

Kaillera

Good
-Commands to see whos lagging/make better
-Play teams or 3 people
-More people play on servers

Bad
-Trolls
-Admin Abuse
-Mayhem
-*******s
-Ragequiters (more)
-New ***s
-Pause Restarters
-Admin/mod banning because of you're experience over theres
-More frame delays normally (even with LAN)
-Every one goes to the same smash server so were you live at can effect how much you play or if you get banned your ****ed.
-Lag
-DS

Nintendo64

Good
-No Frame delays
-No ragequiters (lol if there are)
-No trolls
-No Bans
-No Lag
-No Ds
-No admin abusers
-No random recordings
-No Bull****
-No Newwwbbiez

Bad
-Most N64's are broke
-Controllers mess up (this is why you mod the n64 controller to have Gamecube joystick)
-Hard to find people to play
-When 4 players play on some maps it slows down sometimes.

N64 #1, P2P #2, Kaillera #3

Here on out, If you play on Kaillera Servers with 1v1... Your gay. Simple as that. P2P or play on N64 if possible.

I'd rate both equally good. Console has perfect gameplay with no lag, but you cant play in alternative stages and you cant use gamshark codes.

My gameshark messed up my game and I didn't know how to fix it. I got the glitch where every time I went to 1P mode I always got mario no matter who I picked.

i have a n64 gameshark and it works fine,

you cannot easily mod the n64 controller to use a gamecube stick, with the official ones it was only done once and it was huge.

some 3rd party controllers already use the ps1/ps2 style sticks

there is always the option to build your own controller if you hate them that much

most n64's are NOT broke, ive bought 5 labelled as faulty and they just needed a clean

n64's can lag

...is this smasherx74 on another account?

This is clearly just a topic to bash the server, nothing more. And yeah, n64s have significant lag, especially with 4 players on a big stage.

Being banned "because of you're experience over theres?" If you have an issue with the server, bring it up with me or another admin, not by making topics or sending silly messages. Going on the server to find people to P2P is something that is done quite often.

Saying that there is just one server is wrong as well.

How does one get p2p?
See the smash index.

Also, this guy reminds me of smasherx74 from the Project 64k bad information.

I use Kailera for 1v1's as well since barely anyone asks for p2p.

If a lot more people used/advertised p2p, I would play that over anything (outside of FFA's/Doubles.

My thoughts on the "bad" aspects of Galaxy 64 (I'm an admin there):
Bad
-Trolls - the are varying levels of this, but if someone is clearly acting out of line, then I try to do what I can to take control of the issue. I have little tolerance for *******s.
-Admin Abuse - I haven't seen much of this. What I have seen has been minor and probably wouldn't even be considered abuse. I think I'm very good at taking a fair and unbiased approach, so feel free to report something you feel is abusive. If you feel uncomfortable about your identity, then make a new AIM/MSN account and IM me about the problem.
-Mayhem - Elaborate.
-*******s - Not sure what this is
-Ragequiters (more) - Ragequitting never bothered me, but to each his own. That's probably partially because, for the most part, the only people who seem to ragequit are terrible players, so I'm happy to be done with them.
-New ***s - No clue what this is.
-Pause Restarters Midmatch, or at the end of the match? I can't remember the last time I saw someone do it midmatch (maybe it's more common in team battles? I don't know, I don't usually play teams). People who do it when the match is over are meh, whatever. If you think it saves time, then I don't care.
-Admin/mod banning because of you're experience over theres - English, please.
-More frame delays normally (even with LAN) Depends on location, but yeah, usually.
-Every one goes to the same smash server so were you live at can effect how much you play or if you get banned your ****ed. - Fortunately, the only people who get banned are those who truly deserve it.
-Lag - Server lag sucks. :( Fortunately it doesn't happen THAT often. 98% of the time, it's a person lagging, not the server. Laggy players suck. :(
-DS - God, yes. Lagging out every 20 minutes is annoying as hell.
Oh, yeah, and I've heard that team matches sometimes lag on the N64, so you can add that as a bad aspect.

As far as P2P vs. Kaillera vs. N64 vs. offline emulator goes, it just depends. N64/offline emulator just isn't a viable option most of the time, so it's stupid to rank it. If I had to choose between one or the other for the rest of my life, I'd choose online, since I rarely get to play someone on console. Of course, I don't think anyone would say that they prefer playing online instead of on console. For offline emulator vs. N64, it depends on if you can feel a difference. Emulation isn't perfect, but if it's good enough so that the difference doesn't affect your play, then, assuming you have enough controllers/adapters/keyboards/computer power, an emulator is superior since it has the potential for playing in high definition and with lagless teams.

Kaillera vs. P2P is trickier. I prefer playing on the server if I'm too lazy to set up P2P or just want a quick couple of matches, but I much prefer the lower delay (and not lagging out every 20 minutes jfdjskldsjal) of P2P. Just depends on the mood I'm in.

You could put up Smash64 Virtual Console on the Wii up as well. Personally, I prefer that for offline games.. unless I'm able to play Smash64 offline on the computer/laptop without buggy controls (some computers only support a limited number of inputs).

Wii Smash64 Virtual Console

Goods:
-smooth frame rates
-no lag (even for 2v2)
-many people have a wii; more accessible than an n64
-can play all smash games
-can use N64 controller (with adapter) or GC controller
-supports codes (use Gecko OS to launch)
-GC controllers more durable
-gameplay feels faster

Bads:
-doesn't have codes like the emulator does (FD and BF stage ccodes aren't available yet)
-frame skips
-no online (could be good or bad actually; bad: no one to play with. good: no desynchs, lagless)
-gotta have adapter for n64 controller
-people may have to get used to a GC controller

I like Kaillera too. But im always getting banned. I wish people would just p2p or have servers were no one was banned.

I don't have a n64 anymore since my bro sold it, but I'm getting another one. But wouldn't the n64 8MB expansion pak enhance and remove the lag from ffa and team matches. I wish ssb64 tournaments was as common as brawl. Ever since brawl was released melee was fading away. I'm just glad to see people keeping oldskool smashing alive. SSB64 and Melee 4EVER <3

Breaths........................ok, I'm going to be super controlled.

You are dumb- really really dumb.

The fact that MOST people who had a nintendo64 that seen it as just another system not caring about it after new ones came out theres is most likely broke. Also Nintendo64s are not build as good as ones today. You're really REALLY dumb. So unless you think everyone in world has a WORKING nintendo64 that doesn't mess up or freeze or just is dead. Then say something. Don't make posts if you don't know what you're talking about. Welcome to Ignore list you just got pwned.

Well seeing as how my N64 is in perfect working condition I'll just go ahead and make an uneducated, unfounded, and pretty **** ignorant assumption that everyone's N64 is in perfect working condition because the world does in fact revolve around me and every opinion I hold, every assumption I make, and pretty much every thought that I have is 100% correct, and anyone who disagrees with me, regardless of evidence posted, or thought put into their argument is without fail 100% incorrect and should be ignored to the fullest extent of my power.

Oh wait, that would make me a ********, ignorant, arrogant ******* who should learn to deal with the problems (bullying, being ignored, being turned down, being unsuccessful, overall just being a loser IRL) that cause you to come onto internet forums and play the role of top dog even though nobody could give two ****s what you have to say.

Learn to take care of your things. My N64, SNES, and one of my old NESs all work perfectly fine.

Xbox 360s break (due to poor interior design/manufacturing).

Old video game systems don't break (unless you throw them against the wall, jam games in them really hard, spill pop on them, leave them outside in extreme temperatures, vomit inside the cartridge slot, etc.).

So, you must have done one of those things. Take care of ur stuff and it won't break, k? :D

No dude, I have every game system and almost every game, and the SNES and the Sega Genesis 3 and the Nomad for handheld are the most to indestructible. I dropped my snes out of the window and it fell 3 stories and landed on concrete, and it still worked. I have like 10 of them, but that one still worked after that, and I have even left it in the rain, and spilled juice on it like 3 times. It still worked.

Hey all,

I'm trying to get p2p to work. When I load mupen64k I open kaillera and it allows me to choose a client so I choose p2p and nothing shows up. I can click waiting games but it just says downloading and nothing comes up just all blank. Are there no games going on or is this something to do with the port forwarding talked about here (http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=139500). The port that I have in the top left corner seems right (28776 or w/e) so i'm not sure what's up.

lolwut I beg to differ
Umm... k.

Finding good players to play N64 smash with is like finding someone's lost earing in the middle of corn field.

I live in EXTREMELY populated area, and I know of no hardcore n64 smashers anywhere remotely close to me. Closest smashers I know of are melee players who live about a half hour or so away - I found that out from the melee section of the forum. And by extremely populated, I am not kidding. I live 40 miles outside of Chicago, and Chicago is surrounded by a crapload of suburbs... there are literally millions of people in any direction within an hour or 2 drive, and I still don't have anyone I can just go and play some competitive smash with. Closest I came to it was some guys on campus during the semester who played somewhat often, but didn't really quite play at the same level as me.

Console, when an option, is always the perfect choice, but online smash is like 5000 times more convenient, and probably consists of at least 95% of competitive play (except for maybe chile :O).

Actually all the nintendo consoles are strong, but i have doubts about the wii.
Actually it's not that bad. I dropped one off a tv from like 10ft up on tile, and it still worked fine. We'll see if it ages well, lol.
Like A$ said, I think the NES is the only Nintendo console that is mortal.

Yeah, Nintendo made consoles are amazing. And when the NES breaks, it's almost always because of the cartridge pin connector, which you can buy a new one online for like $10. I have two broken ones so I might do this and then sell the newly working consoles. I've opened up NESs before, just have to unscrew some screws - but they're all just a regular philips head.

Actually, a good emulator with good GFX and best plugins is better. Just have 2+ controllers for PC.

Project64 1.6 Jabo 7 or 8 GFX, AziAudio = Best smash play as long as computer wont lag it will run better then the actual n64 sense computers are just overall better now then any old system. And actually, on gamecube, WWE Day of Reckoning 1 use to lag sometimes when in 4+ people all with weapons and when running Dolphin on PC, with actual good settings, it doesn't. Emulators are better then systems sometimes. The more advance computers get, the better emulators will run.

Thnxkbyeggnore5stockedpwned.
