I love organic food. Organic meats, organic fruits, organic juices, even organic candy. I work at an organic food store. It makes me feel great, I've lost a lot of weight just by eating organic (no change in exercise, no cutting back on eating, etc.), and I think it tastes better. When I eat cheap, fattening, non-organic food, I can get quite sick.

The problem is, my parents. They've noted the weight loss ("You're looking slim lately, Eric!"), and they support and let me stay at my job. The problem is, they will NOT buy any organic food.
"You understand, its more expensive."
"You should take a break once in a while."
"It's so hard to get!"
"Stop doing all this health ****"

1) I'd rather it be slightly more expensive if I'm going to be paying off in health in the long run
2) If I take 'a break' I can get sick.
3) It's not hard. I work at an organic-only store.
4) I like doing it.

The point is, it really wears on my patience and my wallet to only be able to get organic food at the place I work and only a few other places in my town. I guess the overall question would be, if you were in my situation, would you have any ideas or suggestions to change their opinions?

Your eyes happened to drift to my location, I see.
Eating organic is the only way to go due to the fact that they do not genetically modify your food.. or spray pesticides, herbicides, fungicides etc. This is especially important for meats and milk since no growth hormones are used and cows are treated in a more humane manner.

There's nothing wrong with genetically modified, chemically-processed food. A lot of these things make the process more efficient, fruitful (no pun intended), safer, and cleaner than "organic" foods.

If you're willing to spend the money, then just ignore what the other people say if it is good for your health. Of course, everything from about 60 years ago (dunno exactly?).

The only organic things I go for are the drinks. Ya know, Cane Sugar, no artificial stuff sorta thing.

I'd just keep doing what you're doing now. >.>

Heh, when I said "food" I meant "real food" not "McDonald's food". :)

I will address the issue of chemicals and pesticides in a later post.

Oh you silly people with your baseless claims. Commercially used pesticides have sometimes been linked to increasing cancer risk, but only in doses far higher than we even ingest. The actual amount of pesticides we can ever expect to process at a time is essentially harmless. Many pesticides have never shown links to causing cancer.

Eat organic if you want, but cancer shouldn't be one of your reasons for doing so.

My two cents:
Eat healthy food, but not necessarily organic only =p

bad food = clogging arteries
good food = cleaner, healthier, better feeling body

I'm not sure if this has happened to any of you before, but ever been on the 'unhealthy food diet'? It's simple, eat horrible food for a few weeks, then eat only healthy food for a while. You notice an immediate decrease in pains, sweating, and stress. It becomes easier to think, and you are less anxious. So yeah, healthy food good, horribly fake food not good

Same stuff applies for most food that "causes cancer".

I'm sure no one's died by eating nothing but healthy unorganic food.
