Why can't people just enjoy the game? I mean, we have a game with Mario, Link, Pikachu, Samus, Kirby, Megaman and people still complain?

If the series had started with Brawl and then progressed to this point as a second entry I'd be way more excited than I am, which is already a lot. But that's not the case. We started off with the great SSB64, progressed to the absolutely amazing Melee, then (in my opinion) devolved to Brawl. We already know how good this series can be, so all of our hopes are based on past entries.

A man cannot so easily revert to fine wine after tasting ambrosia of the gods.

This topic is the bane of my existence.

I've said it before, btw. People were unrealistic/too optimistic about their expectactions in Brawl, be it character/content, or just competitively. So when they fell, they fell hard. *looks at tripping* Hence why (I think) the conservative/"pessimistic" perspective being dominant this time around. Basically, people hate making themselves look foolish. *looks at tripping being gone* I find nothing wrong with being realistic (I thrive on pessimism myself), but even I have to admit, there's a lot to be optimistic about. Until we get the actual game out, nothing is final, though.

Just a heads up but you are not speaking for everyone here. I enjoyed Brawl as much as Melee, so I wasn't disappointed with the game despite it's flaws.

I'm super glad that Sakurai acknowledged most of his past mistakes and is aiming for a balance between those two games.
Also, realistic=/=pessimistic. I have too much stuff going around in my life right now so I'm not letting details like that interfere with one of my personal hobbies. I rather see this as a great opportunity to play a great game.

It seems like when he made the Hardcore/Casual comparison, he proved that he atleast has the competitive community in mind when making the game. We can already see by him removing tripping that this is true.
Indeed. The confirmation that Sakurai is well aware of the competitive community and is making decisions with them in mind ought to bring SOME optimism.

Smash Bros. is an interesting conundrum, because the game was created originally to be a rather fun-loving game that so happened to have a lot of serious competitive potential. So Sakurai has a very delicate balance to achieve with Smash, since at its heart, it's supposed to be an approachable game, but it is also a game that people like to get deep with.

If you enjoy the game, continue playing.
If you think Melee physics is better, play Melee.
I don't see the problem

I never implied either of your claims. I too enjoyed Brawl immensely for what it was. And not suggesting this game will be bad just because of my pessimistic (don't know where you got "realistic" from) views, that's just how I roll.

Almost sure you mentioned something about being realistic. But anyways if I misinterpreted what you meant before I apologize. I'm definitely looking forward to enjoy this game as well.
