Discuss the Moonfall

What is Operation Moonfall?

Operation Moonfall is an ongoing effort to show Nintendo that there is a demand for Majora's Mask to receive the same treatment Ocarina of Time did when being redesigned for the Nintendo 3DS. If you would like to show your support for Operation Moonfall continue to read this page, and remember that the more people that know about this the better! Make sure you let all of your friends know about
Operation Moonfall!

Operation Moonfall began after a recent Nintendo Power Issue where they interview Eiji Aonumma about
Skyward Sword, Majora's Mask 3D, a Zelda Movie and more.

After playing Ocarina of Time 3D, the next question that comes to mind is: Will we get a Majora's Mask remake next?

Would you like to play such a remake?

Well, Yes!

It's been 13 years since Ocarina of Time was originally released, and one of the big things that we made this remake possible was that there was an outpour of emotions from people who said they would like to see this game done. We said we could do it in 3D, so we did. I think certainly if there was a similar output of emotion and clamor from fans for a remake of Majora's Mask, it wouldn't be an utter impossibility.

Thinking on it now, having a handheld Majora's Mask where you could kind of just set things down on your own time - close it, set it aside and come back to it later - might be a game play element some fans will actually take to and might really appreciate. Especially considering how you really had to rush through the original game, in a sense.

Methods of Showing Support

Send an e-mail to Nintendo via their
website or directly to their e-mail address: nintendo(at)noa.nintendo.com, make sure to change the (at) to an actual @ symbol. Include the following message in the e-mail:

Dear Nintendo,

As a fan of The Legend of Zelda series, I simply wanted to voice my support and interest in the creation of Majora’s Mask 3D. While we do not want to deter from the creation of a new Zelda game for the 3DS, we still would like to have Majora’s Mask given the same treatment Ocarina of Time has gotten. We feel that not only would it see strong sales from the large following the game has garnered over the years, but several of the new fans created with Ocarina of Time 3D would certainly be interested in purchasing it’s direct sequel. In addition, it would do the game a great justice to be brought back for a second life, and that such a game would be more accepted today than it was at the time of it’s previous release.

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us. We appreciate the enthusiasm of our Zelda fans! I wanted to let you know that your comments have been documented and reported to the relevant departments here at Nintendo.

At the risk of dampening the excitement you feel, I must be clear that no official announcements have been made regarding a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask for the Nintendo 3DS. However, we like hearing what our consumers find important.

We hope you continue to enjoy the Nintendo 3DS and all the great titles currently available or on their way.
Keep checking our website (http://www.nintendo.com) for all the latest news and information.

Sincerely,

Kurt Wagner

Nintendo of America Inc.
Also, as of this moment, 5,000 signatures have been put onto the petition, in only about two days! :bee:

Dear Nintendo,

The Legend of Zelda has had the most positive impact on my life that any work of fiction has ever achieved. It has taught me how to relax and embrace the sheer joy of adventure, and as a painter, it has given me countless experiences from which to draw inspiration. Nintendo has mastered a pantheon of video game archetypes within the development of this series, but one title breaks these established parameters with horrific whimsicality. Majora's Mask. I write to express my absolute interest in remaking such an underappreciated masterpiece for the Nintendo 3DS. Over the years, the title has garnered an unprecedented and unyielding following because of the internet.

Fans love Majora's Mask in ways they cannot love Ocarina of Time or any other game in the series. Our misadventure in the land of Termina has procured experiences unheard of in the Zelda series; Nintendo managed to brew a foreign stew that took a while to digest, but once done, could not be rivaled. Since Majora's Mask, we've seen Link venture through numerous worlds, styles, and concepts alien enough to label the game a Zelda classic, despite barely featuring Hyrule and Zelda herself-let alone the absolute absence of Ganon. Fans around the world have fallen victim to the demanding interest of a Majora's Mask remake because with its bizarre lore and sheer inventiveness in terms of gameplay, storytelling, and interactivity, we cannot help but dance the night away time and again with this truly awesome experience. When Majora's Mask was rereleased on the Wii's Virtual Console, bountiful people celebrated on the internet across every Zelda forum and then more.

A remake of Majora's Mask for the 3DS would not be unwarranted. It already exists in our minds. Majora's Mask would find its niche much easier in today's market than last decade's. The Ocarina 3D engine needs to be used at least once more to expand the series! Thanks for your time, and I know this is all wishful thinking as of right now. It's just something I and many others feel necessary for the series. In short, we want this remade so a new generation can enjoy it with us.

Thank you!
I'll update this post with the reply when it comes. Can't wait to get the exact same response as Tacel did.

I was thinking more along the lines:

"Dear Nintendo,

I have your wife. If you don't remake Majora's Mask she'll be sleeping with the fishes!

Thank you!"

Wow! What a beautifully composed email, Spire! I just copy and pasted the email templated that was offered. :p I'm lazy.

As of now there are 5,200 petition signatures. That makes an average of about two signatures per minute since midnight.

if they made a trippy glitched out BENized "master quest" of majora's mask I would consider buying a 3DS completely against my better judgement

I thought that an informer already informed Joystiq or Kotaku that MM was already in the works?
While I don't read those sites often, I'm sure IGN would have jumped at the chance to steal that article based on a rumor alone.

However, all they reported was an interview saying it possibly could be made.

The poster above also contacted Nintendo and they said a MM Remake hasn't been planned as of yet
