For obscure, I have a littany of them: I do wish for Project H.A.M.M.E.R's return (failed Wii game which looked pretty basic, but could've been interesting), and I would support characters like Lip (Panel de Pon, the flower item comes from there) as well as a Style Savvy rep for the unique twists they could bring gameplay-wise.
For unlikely, hoo boy. I'm a major - no, massive - Dota fan (it having developed during my years playing WarCraft III and its custom maps). I find a hero from Dota 2 really REALLY unlikely (and 4th out of 6 on my Valve list. Gordon, who is first because Sakurai likes him, is not superlikely either in my mind.) because:
A) No presence in Japan. Nada. Biggest drawback there is until proven otherwise. Aside from a tournament where the organizer
literally gave out food as prizes,
AFAIK. It's partly because of the lack of computers, partly because Valve does no advertising and relies on word-of-mouth. League of Legends and Overwatch at least have small presences.
B) Lack of feasible moveset ideas. Most Dota 2 heroes work on 4 spells / abilities - some abilities are passives - and most of them are practically 2-dimensional (I.E. No jumping). You'd have to Captain Falcon most moves out of practically thin air and / or using the hero's model as inspiration. And would heroes work on MP? That'd complicate things further.
C) No Nintendo connection. Self-explanatory. Dota and Dota 2 has always been on the computer. Could mayyybe change, but that depends on a spinoff (Dota Underlords - a member of the crazy new Auto Battler genre) possibly arriving on the Switch at some point.
Still, despite all that, I'd be ecstastic beyond belief if Dota 2 actually were to make it into Smash. For loads of reasons. I know it's silly, but dreams and hopes are sometimes meant to be silly.
