This is what i would like to see...bear with me.

TOURNAMENT MODE

Set up a tournament for up to 64 people, a la melee. It could be set to Friends List Only or Random Opponents, or Both if they wanna make people happy. Then, when a sufficient number of people have joined, the tourney begins. All the fights take place at once, each group of fighters on their own game.

When any match ends, the winner moves up the ladder, waiting for the corresponding match to end so that they can continue against the other winning fighter. Then, when it is down to the final two fighters(or teams?) everyone in the tournament could be given the choice to watch the match or leave. The winner of course wins and gets all the glory. I think it would make for a great tournament mode.

Think this could be pulled off?

That sounds really cool actually. Early complaints about online tournaments were that you'd have to wait and wait. I don't think anyone ever thought of same level matches going on at the same time which seems stupid in hindsight.

Sounds doable to me. There would still be some wait of course, especially with bigger tournaments just because some people play defensively and those games can take forever.

Forget 2 minute time battles. There's no way the smash community would make that the default tournament battle type. Simply finish the battle, and if the battle for whoever will play you next hasn't finished, you can watch their match finish. Besides giving you something to do, it can also help give you a hint about how each person plays, a sort of bonus for finishing your match first.
