I'm genuinely worried that it will suck. Doesn't bother me that much...

Will just mean I'll have to play real people more.

The thing is, we'll develop an online L-cancel timing and an offline one :S which will be weird. Or say if you were using Rest... those few ms of latency would screw you over..

I've got college buddies that've scattered to the four corners of the world that I rarely, if ever, get to see anymore to Smash with.
This is the best update so far.

i'd say it's slightly underwhelming, but still awesome at the same time. i like being able to play against friends of mine who don't live nearby, and even friends that are just too lazy to get off their couch. but i would have liked it if i at least knew the names of the random people that happen to fight online.

but i see the reasons they did what they did (except the headset business. that makes no sense.)

Online is the greatest thing that can happen to Smash Bros. IMO. I always got sick of battling the same idiot AI everytime. With Wi-Fi, you can play random people you don't know anything about. In fact, the extents that Sakurai is going to to protect privacy is awesome to me, because even if you have battled someone before, you won't know it. Thus, you will not be able to plan out how you'll play depending on how they play because you don't know who they are. With no insane planning, the game is based on pure skill, not strategy.

Extremely underwhelming.

I want to be able to discuss and select rules before and after games.
