On VLC I get a blank image.

I download torrents, mostly movies, and watch them(obvoiusly). But ever since my Internet connection went down for like 3-4 days I have not being able to watch them! They are all in .avi format so I know VLC can play them. And I know they are not dud torrents since I played them perfectly fine before. I even downloaded a codec pack in hope that would work (http://www.cccp-project.net/) but still recieving a blank screen. I uninstalled and re-installed VLC, still didnt work. I tried WMP, still didnt work. I tried Zoom Player, still didnt work. And just so you know my Internet connection is back up and running fine. Help please!

Internet connection has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with VLC...

Are you 100% sure that the files are not corrupted? Like, I dunno, are they on an external or something that recently came unplugged?

If you're sure it's not something like that, try MPlayer. It's very VLCish in every way.
