On hidden characters, returning veterans, and how they relate

I just realized something interesting. This is the list of all the characters that were hidden in either SSB, Melee, or both:

Cpt. Falcon (hidden in SSB)
Ness (hidden in SSB)
Luigi (hidden in both)
Jigglypuff (hidden in both)
Dr Mario (hidden in Melee)
Falco (hidden in Melee)
Young Link (hidden in Melee)
Pichu (hidden in Melee)
Ganondorf (hidden in Melee)
Marth (hidden in Melee)
Roy (hidden in Melee)
Mewtwo (hidden in Melee)
Game&Watch (hidden in Melee)

It turns out that if you make a list of every single veteran, clone or not, that hasn't been confirmed to return in Brawl yet, it matches the list above, one to one, 100%! Which actually means several things:
a) No character that's been hidden in the past has been announced yet.
b) Every veteran that's not yet confirmed, was a hidden character in one or both games.
c) Most likely, Sakurai isn't going to reveal any more veterans until the game is out, since all non-hidden ones are already up.
d) Fans of unannounced veterans should not despair, as it's very likely that they'll return as unlockables, like they did in the past. This could also explain why some characters that feel like they should have been announced by now (i.e. Cpt Falcon) are still in the dark.

Sometimes even before the game comes out, even. Secret characters are one of the fun parts of Smash. Notice he didn't say he'd reveal every character before the release of the game. He didn't specify when he would do it, just that he would do it at all.

Personally, I think he's going to release only a few secrets before the release of the game and they will be spaced out significantly. Every other character will be released just before and just after the game is released imo.

I think we can all agree Sheik is a special case, being Zelda's alter ego. At the most, it could very well be that this is a hint that s/he won't be returning.

He can reveal it the very day the game ships and still be first. In fact I believe that's the most likely scenario.

Read again, he said he would reveal them on the very end, and, he said it would be just like Smash fist, where unlockables were revealed after Melee was released.

I knew this would happen ever since PEACH was confirmed, at the very same time I predicted the Ice Climbers would return. (So you should know how annoying those Falcon Whiners became).

All we need for the prophecy to be fulfilled is a SHEIK confirmation/deconfirmation.

Yet we still don't know for sure what will become of Ness and Marth..

Ness COULD be out... but there are a few things that make me think he won't get cut...
1-His awful Yoyo-smash attacks.
2-His unique intro (which was hillarious in the original SSB)
3-His importance in the western continents.

You're probably right, and most of those characters will once again be unlockables.

Yet I expect Pichu, Dr Mario, Roy, Young Link and Game&Watch to be cut.

Also, Ness and Marth might or might not return, though I hope both return.
