That's pretty nifty actually. We should experiment with a few setups this way, knocking people down with purple pikmin throws is pretty easy and most of the time they won't tech it.

Indeed most of the time they wont tech.

Also hitting people of a platform when they shield is ofcourse an easy setup. purples are still my favourite though specially when you have 2 :p

I think the jab wil only lock if you do it on time, if the opponent is lying there a little too long the jab will hit him up (he stands up if you hit with jab).

the chances to do these locks with jab with oli do regularly appear, more than you think, specially with purple.

the opponents can jump out of it sometimes or do an airdodge but they will fall to the ground pretty much.

Interesting prospect.

Seems to work and it'll be extremely easy to set up when you have a bunch of purples.

while i may just be doing this wrong but i don't think it works, they aren't getting up in the way you do when jab locking so it won't work

This is... amazing.

Also, I'm asking for forgiveness for my ignorance on this subject a while back. I said Olimar had no jab lock. I thought Olimar didn't have one. .____.

edit:

>_>

I'll definitely do some testing on this and what Zori found.

That looked pretty cool, I'll have to try it out and see if it actually locks like that. And for those that say it's just flashy and impractical, you probably just aren't good enough =)

But if they miss the tech and just land regular, then you can do this.

You can DI and tech pretty much anything in this game, that's a given XD

Yeah, but with a little DI away, Olimar won't be able to get close enough for the jab. I'm just saying, this isn't anything worth spending hours on.

I'm rarely in a situation where it'd be best to throw a purple pikmin at my opponent from that close. I find it extremely situational right; nonetheless, very practical.

edit: lol, an hour? More like a couple minutes. It's not terribly difficult.

I just thought of a way you could set this up.
Autocancel a nair, then throw the purple.
gg?

edit: I tried it. It's awesome. :D

In the jawn, with the jawn.
Way to step it up DanGR, I wish i had a wii to do some of these things.
What else ways are there to set it up?
at a kill percent white fsmash, followed by a Purple over B, into a jab lock?

Here a video of the autocanceled nair setup! It's really pathetic quality, because I'm using the camera on my macbook. <_<

It's a 10-death: http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=10cu5qr&s=3
(He wouldn't get a prat fall if I set him to 0%, so I put it at 10% in the beginning.)

Basically, I short hopped->threw white pikmin->autocanceled nair->threw purple pikmin->run forward and dair with a red to put him in the locked state->fast fall and land on the ground->charge purple upsmash till he gets up. :)

people who say DI and tech...mostly when a purple HITS it is unexpected, if they have the time to DI a purple then they mostly could have also shielded it... but yeah you can DI and tech almost anything so...

the thing is if they tech normally without rolling you can still get a free dair in so it ain't that bad but if your opponent always techs your purples you will probably go for a grab..

this jab lock wont occur very often but it is possible against good players...you just wont land it often...maybe only once or not at all...
