I`am thinking of making olimar my second character but dont know if its a good idea 4 toernament(dutch)?
Most and i mean most of the other people play:
-marth
-mk
-rob
-fox/falco/wolf
-tl
-snake

What do you think?

I just started playing him yesterday, and he is so much fun he's already my second. And almost as good as my main...which is kind of sad considering I've used Lucario for almost a month now:(

there's no "best" per say
but we're all good and all know what we're talking about

olimar is pretty amazing

it would be best not to use him against marth, mk, or rob unless you know what you're doing with him as those can be difficult match ups

If you know what youre doing than good Marths and MKs gets alot easier but ROB is REALLY hard for Oli.
I actually beat Superdoodleman's ROB with Olimar quite a bit when I played against him. I got the impression that he doesn't play Brawl nearly as much as Melee, though.

IMO...

-marth (it's fine *)
-mk (no-one has it good on MK, some say it's even, but that's just not true if you've played a good MK that knows the matchup. I'd rather not get into a Olimar v MK debate though)
-rob (it's fine*)
-fox/ (you're good)
falco/ (you're good)
wolf (you're good *)
-tl (you're good)
-snake (you should be good, but some say it's hard. I disagree)

*-if you know the matchup

i dont look at the match-up I rather like to hear it from real people
but anyways you say against fox/falco/wolf you`re good
what is the best strategie to play?

Falco and Wolf have been discussed in the Matchup thread. The summary on Wolf might not be up yet but you can find the discussion in that thread.

Fox... I have no clue. Wait for the discussion xD

Marth: Don't overdo it with aerial fighting and Smash defense. Marth has the advantage here.
Meaty: Same thing here, aside from the fact that you need to play more defensively because of the uber ground game.
Rob: Play aggressively now. But do not abuse smashes. Rob's D-Smash will answer it.
Fox: Can be hard because of the speed. You can actually abuse F-Smash to keep Fox away. Aside from that, aerial game is the keyword here.
Falco: Nothing to worry about except for the o%-death grab combo.
Wolf: Only thing you have to watch out is F-smash. It's going to be abused against Olimar because of his range. Once again, aerial game has priority.
Toon Link: Aggressive game! Use Pikmin Throw more than usually to approach because of TL's projectiles. You have to watch out in midair as well. F-Air and B-Air are out-prioritized by Link's respective aerials.
Snake: Rather defensive game is my suggestion. Aerial game of course. And if Snake gets near you to do one of his infernal tilts, then do one as well if you have time to do so. F-Tilt can save your butt in such situations.

Ive 2-0ed Zori in friendlies.
Keep in mind it was just friendlies though.
And they were really really close.

And I went to the final match with stiltz in tourney.
Matches were one stock.
I lost the thrid though I think it might of been two stock.

TL can put up a good fight if they know what to do agaisnt OLimar.

i wanna play you ^^ come to so cal

the main advantages we have on toon link are range on the ground and we can stop your stupid projectiles >_>

i'll always see it as oli's advantage though cause i'm extremely biased lol

Being the most hated
on toonlink SPAM pikmin if they spam projectiles...and shield grab lots unless they counter that with grabbing your shield...then you pivot grab them lots...especially against aggressive ones

Nair and quickdraw.
Then add TL's zair to the mix.

It prolly is Oli's advantage but not a huge advantage like some people think.

There is no real answer to teching and perfect shielding unless you do it yourself. Some minor mindgames will probably do the work though. Like F-Air/N-Air spacing, especially the N-Air approach is likely to work against shields. Or PT to F-Air. Almost forgot: Do not use the U-Smash to juggle Fox or Falco. Their D-Air is totally out-prioritizing it! I think Snake and Marth can do it as well but it's saver to use it on them than on Fox and Falco. And yes, overusing PT against projectile abusing Toon Link works.

we care nothing for our pikmin, they are but tools :]

the zair is annoying, chip timed it perfectly to hit oli's fat head

hmmm i think it is 63-35 AT WORST
most likely it will be decided to be at 60-40

toon link is also easy to spike :D
pikmin to stop your boomerang and bomb then spike through upB if you choose to use it

Thats why I boomerang at an angle when TL and Olimar are on different levels. Its more difficult to block with Pikmin.

Zair is amazing =)
mhm probably 60-40

and wat is the best strategy when someone is hanging of the egde and you are offstage trying to come back
also if you dont get enough time to get more pikmin (u have only 1 on the field)

Olimar is above the edge:
-Pikmin Chain to gain minor horizontal and vertical distance to land directly on the stage.
-N-Air to force your enemy to roll back onto the stage. Then grab the edge by yourself.
-F-Air works the same way but if you still have your second jump left, you can follow up your opponent easier.

Olimar is below the edge:
-U-Air into Pikmin Chain.
-N-Air into Pikmin Chain.
-Pikmin Chain if purple Pikmin is last in the row. It will bump the enemy away from the edge and Olimar grabs it.
This does not work with any other Pikmin being last in the row. The damage remains but he won't grab the edge!

Olimar has to pluck Pikmin in a short amount of time:
-N-Air to space and then pluck a few Pikmin out.
-If possible, use the F-Air to space since it has more range and pushes the opponent farer away than N-Air.
-D-Tilt into U-Tilt, pluck a Pikmin, roll away, pluck out the last few ones.
The enemy will try to attack you while you are plucking out the single Pikmin, and many D-Airs have enough landing lag for you to be save.

He's a pain to play against. I'm pretty sure he doesn't do to well against Marth though.

I've played against NC-Echo's Olimar a few times and all I can tell you is the little guy has power, grab range, and can rack up damage quickly.

PS1 or Halbred. If you are bad at those stages, BF.
