Smash Journeyman
Alright, ever since Sakurai has announced Snake in the game, everyone, including me, was fine with it. I mean, Metal Gear Solid IS a good game, and it won't hurt to put just one third party character in it, right? Wrong.
October 10, 2007. Sakurai announces Sonic. SONIC. That went too far. Did he add Sonic because of the hype, did he want a rival for Mario? I don't know. But nevertheless, I can predict that there is a 75% chance of another third party character being in Brawl. 75%. That is overwhelming, considering that this is supposed to be a NINTENDO ALL-STAR ACTION GAME. Think back to the bow cover of Super Smash Brothers 64. Clearly it says "Duke it out as your favorite Nintendo characters." Let me emphasize those last two words. NINTENDO CHARACTERS. Nothing else.
So what is Brawl going to be if they add another third party character? Not Super Smash Bros., for all I know. Here we are toying with third party characters that mean nothing to many, whether it's Brawl enthusiasts, your casual player, or a 7 year old actually having fun with the game. So what I'm trying to point out is, third party support may spoil Brawl a little, and it may feel a little unfamiliar to me.
If you agree or disagree, please discuss it here, and keep the flames to a minimum.
