well, yeah i know im pretty bad ive only been playing marth for two days, havent really played the game since sometime when it was released until two days ago and just heard of terms like shffl, wavedash and l cancel... i can sorta use them in a match but i guess not that well. I need to become really good before july for a tourney.

So here is a video of me playing against a lvl 9 Falco, i know i suck so i dont wanna hear comments like omg u r the worst marth ever, i just wanna hear constructive things like, tell me what i did wrong, what i couldve done better and even somethings i might have done well, thank you.

The best thing you can do is find a friend to play with, and record that. We can help you better if you do so.

practice and fast fingers are your friend in that department. All i can say is to practice shorthopping and not rolling for now, then work your way up to the advanced stuff. There's really no precentage to SHDouble fair, I usually use it to rack up damage and/or combo.

so no rolling at all? Also for the sh fair fair do u use a for both fairs or a then c stick? and can u also mash the 2nd fair? Also i wouldnt mind seeing a video of this :)

still trying :( i can rarely seem to do it, my fingers should be pretty fast cause im one of the top mkds players in the world, i guess u sorta need fast fingers for that idk but it seems like when i sh it doesnt give me enough time to get the 2nd fair out...

SHDFairs do take a while to get the hang of. I suggest having the sound out so you can hear the fairs swiping when you do the SHFairs. Then go to slow mode and try to do two fairs at once. Then go back to normal mode and do it again. The key here is practise.

Being good at MKDS doesn't really mean you'll be good right off the bat, but it helps alot.

I just had a look at the vid and I must say your marth is halfway decent. You need to work on tippered ground attacks. Your aerial ability needs more work. Look at pro marth vids to get some ideas on where you need improvement. Practise SHs for now, as Marth/Falco Pro said, until you can do it consistently without having to think about it from any height above the ground. The Dair in particular.

You definitely roll too much. Try wavedashing backward or dashing out and back in, then grab.

When playing Fox you should chain Uthrow until somewhere around 20%, then Uthrow to Utilt. I really can't recommend Usmash, which I noticed you did.

You dash attack a bit too much. Try grabbing instead (jump-cancelled if possible). Even a crappy player will just shield-grab every time if you constantly dash attack.

I'd say the most important thing you need to learn though is to space yourself. When you jump in with your Fairs or Nairs, you let your momentum carry you forward. Instead, as soon you hit the A-button for the aerial you need to slam backward and hold until it is appropriate to fastfall. If you don't space properly a crappy person will continue to shield grab your botched aerials as well.

thanks bibbed... i already know about the chain throw i just didnt wanna use it on the computer because he doesnt even DI so its just tapping z a bunch of times in a row

less rolling, more dashing/wavedashing/grabs

better spacing and Utilt instead of Usmash

thanks heaps for the input ^^ i will work on it all :)

In front of tv playing smash
one pretty specific thng i noticed about your second video at 0:42 the fox used firefox really close to the edge and u didnt try to get back from the ledge and edgeguard him, you just hung on the ledge and waited. If you can improve on little things like that, you can really better your playing.

at 35-44 secs/second vid you could've jumped off and bair'd him.
Your showboating is better than your playing
fastfall your attacks, don't jump EVERYTIME you get sent into the air.
Also, some of your tactics wont work vs real people
Try jump canceled grabs (jump then press z really fast, should look liek a running stand grab)

nice to see another great mkds'er is playing smash too :chuckle:

anyway im not a marth expert but 1 thing that gets me killed alot as a fox player:
is when im under the stage trying to recover with firefox and you as a marth player stands by the edge just counter(down B) when you think the firefox is gonna hit you.(it works pretty much everytime unless the fox sweetspots perfectly)
as soon as you counter the fox he is forced to use firefox again, then just jump on him with a charging B attack.(it kills pretty much everytime).
you should be able to get back on stage anywere as long as you save your dubblejump and dont hold B too long after you hit him.
i hope this helps you :)

ps. it wont work on a cpu cause he already dies off the counter:p
