Ok, i'll be honest, the new Fire Emblem girls look like nothing.

They just look like generic anime girls with over-done hair.

I'm sorry, but they don't seem anything like the ones from FE:A or previous FE installments.

I'll keep my galeforcein' Owain by my side, thanks.

Wouldn't it be better to wait until there's more substantial information about the characters before writing them off? I also have to question what's so different about what we've seen so far of the new characters and all of the old characters, because to be honest I feel like you could make anime comparisons to a lot of Fire Emblem characters.

Are we talking about the characters for FE If or SMT x FE? Because I'll agree with you on the later, but not the former. If anything, FE If's style is very much so in line with Awakening's art style, which was a bit of a departure from classic FE's art anyway.

Pretty much every FE girl/guy ever looks like a generic anime girl/guy with odd hair, because Fire emblem is pretty much anime in videogame form, and always has been.

The only change is that the graphics/art has gotten better over the years.

Fire emblem in the 1990's:

Anime in the 1990's

I mean really, it's always been par for the course. It isn't anything new, and FE: If is looking to be about what I expected in terms of character design. And it's all good as far as I'm concerned.

Fire Emblem in the 2000s:

Anime in the 2000s:

What do you know? It works with the 2000s too. Well, I guess that explains the little sisters and increasingly sexy outfits in the 10s games.

I will note that the lords in all of the 2000s games tended to go for the "nice guy" archetype that was commonly found in anime back in the day. About ten years ago it seemed like your options for heroes were either "dumber than a sack of bricks and loves to eat" or "Brave, nice guy who's willing to throw his life away for someone he just met ten minutes ago." Given that the choices for heroes in modern anime is "ridiculously average dude" or "hormone crazed otaku" I'm curious to know what kind of a hero we'll get in If.

Something tells me it's not going to be the hormone crazed otaku.

Yeah, i guess i've been too attached to Awakening's designs lately again... and the change from european-like designs to italian-ish and japan-ish kinda off-put me at first, but hey, first impressions ain't that bad when it comes to me. I'll get used to it over time.

You forgot brooding broodman whose brooding is only surpassed by handsomeness in terms of video game leads, though Fire Emblem never really took that approach, which is FINE. Early 2000's much? Hahaha

Considering Kamui's class name is Dark Prince(ss), they can transform into what appears to be a decidedly demonic form of Manakete, they're raised by the nation of Nohr and their weapons resembles a Buddhist vajra...

I expect world-ending mania and intense psychosis. Which is fine by me.

I wouldn't even call that the early 2000s. That **** was around until at least the late 2000s. Worse part is, that trend is was created Hot Topic Cloud /offtopic

But yeah, I'm glad FE never went for the "I'M SO DARK AND MYSTERIOUS AND SO EMOTIONALLY TORTURED" archetype that was big in the 2000s.

It just astounds me that this topic derailed itself to be a conversation of its own. Could've been of better use in the designated Fire Emblem If... topic. But I digress.

If it's dealt with, then let's let it bury itself under six feet of topics.
