Official Young Link in Brawl Discussion

Bane, TP Link does NOT represent all Links.

WW Link is NOT Link. There is no relation whatsoever between WW Link and any other Link in existence. WW Link is just a kid that the King of Red Lions decided was the one he wanted to defeat Ganon again. WW Link has to FIND the Triforce of Courage. No blood relation whatsoever.

Also, TP is in a different time line than WW.

And yea, Poke Floats DO look cel-shaded. Even if they're not, they have that feel to them, and that would be enough for WW Link.

*sigh* Link is always just some kid. I never said they were the same person, but they're the same character, Link is a symbol, not one person.

Also, TP is in a different time line than WW.

Nintendo hasn't endorsed the split timeline theory, people just made it up.

Bowser is slow but makes up for it with strength, Kirby is amazing and yoshi just has a lame recovery, but Pichu is head to toe with Y Link and Dr Mario, the three should GO!

If you believe this, my friend could probably totally own anyone playing Doc, Bowser and/or Pichu. Y.Link might not be top tier, but in the hands of a master, he's a comboholic. (Sadly, he doesn't seem to have too many killing moves, unlike his older counterpart.)

QFT. Considering the cartoony young link modeled first premiered in Wind Waker is the official new look of young link. And there's PLENTY of material for a moveset for him.

I liked Young Link in Melee. He was quicker than Link. His Spin Attack Sucked you in, so it was easily spammable. Plus his taunt is the longest taunt so the computer does it alot giving me opportune times to murder.

If they replaced him with WW Link, I'd be happy. He has enough different weapons to make a unique moveset. His grab could be the grappling hook instead of the hookshot for example.
He could use that Hammer.

Plus he isn't the same person as TP Link from what I remember of the game at least.

Personally, I don't like the idea of Young Link OR Wind Waker Link. I'm not going to go into the specifics of it all, but since this is all simply opinion, I think the best and most unique idea to bring to the table would be a Majora's Mask facelift. No thanks in part to Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, if Young Link happens to make a return, it'll be in that particular format.

Which is a shame but, as cool as a mask-changing Young Link would ultimately be, it would be far easier to simply make him in his Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass incarnations and work from there. We'll just have to see.

OMG! Forgive me tangent, but I had a small argument with my college English professor over the meaning of the word "opinion". The topic for the day was debate. She went on to teach the class that you can prove "claims of opinion" but not "claims of belief". Right there, I raised my hand and said, "Is it not the other way around? I though we strove to prove our beliefs but that opinions were just how we felt on a given matter." She responded, "No, that is incorrect. Think about it. You believe in God, right? Prove it. See? It is unprovable." I replied, "That is a horrible example. (While I am working to gather proof on the subject, I cannot sit here and prove it to you.) So, let's change it to something more realistic. I believe the earth is round. I have not proven it myself, but I am sure I could over time. (It is not my "opinion" that the earth is round.)" She rolled her eyes and said, "Just bear with me, OK? Right there, I spun around in my chair and logged into my computer (class is held in a computer lab). I pulled up Google and searched "define: opinion". The definition reads: a personal belief or judgment that is not founded on proof or certainty; "my opinion differs from yours"; "what are your thoughts on Haiti?". To that, she just responded, "Well, in the professional world, 'opinion' has a different meaning..." >_>

Anyway, sorry about that... I just had to get that out of my system. XD

As for the current topic. I would flip if they revealed a Twilight Princess style Young Link. Link was young once, no? Granted, he wouldn't have the green garbs and truckloads of equipment, but they could work around it. Since when was smash about continuity? ^_^

I really wish they'd bring Young Link back, the one from the 2 greatest Zelda games of all time, Majora's Mask (the best), and Ocarina of Time (second best).

I just like the OoT/MM Link design better, but I guess SSBB is trying to go for the most realistic feeling version of each character possible. I like the OoT/MM design better because it was nice and simple, had a slight cartoony flare (but not too cartoony) and a slight realistic flare. Just nice and simple.

I know the chances of Young Link coming back is about as good as Pichu coming back (lol), but still, I think it'd be nice to see them Luigify Young Link, mabey give him a couple moves that take from MM (turn into a Goron/Deku Scrub/Zora maybe?). Have his final smash be Fierce Deity Link (god, that would be so awesome).

Yeah, I know it won't happen. Maybe if they had a 60+ character roster planned, but yeah... not gonna happen

How to Luigify Young Link:

Give him the same "A" moves as Twilight Princess Link, with shorter range of coarse.

Forward B: Either Boomerang or Bombchu
Neutral B: Bow (with either Ice or Fire, as opposed to TP Link's normal bow) or Bombchu
Up B: Same as Link's
Down B: Turn into either a Deku Scrub or Goron (or make it so that he cycles through the map like Pokemon Train... Young Link->Deku Scrub->Young Link->Goron->Young Link->Zora...)


Final Smash: Fiercy Diety Link



OR...

You could make him based more on the Masks:

As Link:
"A" moves would be the same as TP Links, but with less range
Up B: Turn into Deku Scrub AND rise up, with the leaf as a parachute.
Neutral B: Bow/Boomberang
Down B: Turn into Zora AND do a slide/dive... Kinda like C. Falcons down B, but diving and less recovery.
Forward B: Turn into a Goron AND Roll

As Deku Scrub:
"A" moves would consist of twirls (his "A" move from MM)
Up B: Shoot up and use leaf as parachute coming down
Neutral B: Turn back into Link
Forward B: Shoot a Deku Nut
Down B: Dive underground. If you charge it, you'll shoot up like the Up B, but go up further.

As Goron:
"A" moves would consist of Punches
Up B: Short stomp (as a curled Goron ball, a recovery move but not a good one)
Neutral B: Turn back into Link
Forward B: Roll forward (chargeable, Like Sonic's but slower and more powerful. Gain spikes which increase range if charged long enough)
Down B: Breaks out the Bongos and beats (Like DK's down B, but less damage/more range)

As Zora:
"A" moves would consist of attacking with his guitar
Up B: An upward Dive
Neutral B: Turn back into Link
Forward B: PSYCHO CRUSHA!
Down B: Do a slide/dive/barrel roll
