Sure, its been old news for a long time, but I think it would be fitting to officially mourn the characters that "could have been" had Nintendo never sold Rare. There's no doubt in my mind that Rare would have been represented by multiple characters in Brawl if they were still with Nintendo. With this post I'll present some of my favorite Rare characters that would have worked well in Brawl, and invite you all to do the same.

Franchise: Banjo-Kazooie
-----------------------------

Banjo-Kazooie

This is a given. Banjo-Kazooie is arguably Rare's most popular series, and they would have a very unique moveset that would work very well in Brawl.

Mumbo Jumbo

Another very popular character from the Banjo-Kazooie series. Would utilize an interesting mix of magic and fighting with his staff. Could turn opponents into different things, potential for an interesting moveset.

Gruntilda

Far-fetched? Perhaps. But how many female villians do you see in Brawl? Exactly. She could utilize both magic and her broomstick, along with using her girth to fight.

Franchise: Diddy Kong Racing
---------------------------------

Taj

What can I say, Diddy Kong Racing is probably my favorite racing game ever. Taj would be an interesting addition, not to mention "wtf" character. Imagine flying around on a magic carpet...

T.T.

I would LOVE to have T.T. in Brawl. He was such a ridiculously hard character to unlock (at least for me) and I would love to have such a difficult task in Brawl. He also has the potential for some sweet attacks, plus time control could be his final smash.

Wizpig

I've actually seen a few people around here with a support Wizpig icon...I only wish it were possible. Wizpig would be awesome, and for his final smash he could ride his rocket around the stage, blasting people off.

Franchise: Conker's Bad Fur Day
------------------------------------

Conker

He would be awesome! Frying Pan, pitchfork, baseball bat, and his various costumes could all be at his disposal. He could hover for a short period of time with his tail copter thing. Final smash could be his Matrix costume, slowing down time and flipping through the air while shooting his opponents.

Fabled Panther King

Even if Rare was still with Nintendo, I would doubt Panther King would get in. Why, you ask? Simply because to use the character to his full extent would be much too graphic for Brawl. I would want his final smash to be the alien bursting out of him, jumping around the stage and completely owning the other characters on screen.

Franchise: Jet Force Gemini
-------------------------------

Juno, Vela, or Lupus

I miss this game. I don't know why, but I really loved it when it first came out for the N64. I've been hoping for a next gen sequel, and I think the characters would be great in Brawl. They would join Snake as gun-toting fighters, as well as being able to physically pummel their opponents.

Franchise: Kameo: Elements of Power
-------------------------------------------

Kameo/Pummel Weed/ Two other transformations

Kameo would be perfect for Brawl. She could fight in her normal form, utilizing her flying abilities to move around. Then she could transform into one of three characters and take advantage of each of their powers. Pummel Weed would be the most obvious transformation, any suggestions for others?

And last, but not least:

Mr. Pants

Yeah. Move over, Mr. Game & Watch.

Now that I think about it, Rare has enough characters to start their own fighting franchise.

Now I want to here from you guys. what do you think? Do you still wish we had Rare? Any characters I didn't mention? :)

Yeah. I do wish Rare could have stayed. But hey at least they didn't claim most of the DK franchise. Or else Diddy wouldn't have made it. It kinda sucked that in DKR DS they replaced the characters with many other ones.

What I REALLY miss from Rare is Diddy's old hat - the one with the stars. Now it's the lame Nintendo cap.

You forgot Perfect Dark.
Well I was going to, but I figured I wouldn't name every character. I wanted to hear other opinions.

And to a couple posts above, I was also very disappointed with the characters in DKR DS....No conker, no banjo... That basically guarantees that banjo-kazooie won't appear in brawl. If microsoft wouldn't allow their appearance in a DS game, then there is no chance for them in Brawl.

Rare have a special place in my heart. They created the best game of my life and for that I will love them forever. Goldeneye is for me, perfection. Seriously I cannot put into words how amazing that game is. God bless you Rare. Add Diddy Kong Racing and the cocaine like addiction I had to it's single player.

...and Mumbo Jumbo. He would have been perfect for Brawl, along with Wizpig. Gone but never forgetton. :(

Why Rare? Why you bloody b******s. :(

Well Perfect Dark is the only one missing, plus you only have to put Joanna.

In terms of Brawl reps, not really, he may have been on the poll but he would look awful and out of place in the game.
Well, originally the Beam sword was called Lightsabre and had sounds from Star Wars...

They have items from Goldeneye or something in it too

They have the cloaking device from Perfect Dark in Melee, I'm not sure if there were Goldeneye items.
Well, from one of the James Bond games...The motion sensor bomb is one of the items that is

Your right, he just wouldn't fit.

I'm just talking about this thread. It's titled 'Mourn the loss of Rare'. To me Rare = Goldeneye.

The motion sensor bomb was in Goldeneye.

But we mourn the loss of rare in terms of what we're missing out for Brawl representatives, Goldeneye is one of the best first person shooters but I would never want to see him in Brawl lol.
Your right but I just couldn't resist lol.

As for characters that could have been in, Conker and BK aside, Taj, T.T, Wizpig and Mumbo Jumbo all could have been perfectly involved in the Subspace Emissary, even as NPC's.

Yeah, Banjo Kazooie or a Jet Force Gemini rep would have been so awesome. *Sigh* Rare really made some great games, it's a shame them and Nintendo couldn't have worked things out.

We can dream.

The departure of Rare as a second party developer for Nintendo is equivalent to the fall of the Roman Empire.

...also who played Killer Instinct Gold on the N64. Good memories.

Oh yeah, sorry on that.

Fulgore would have shredded Sonic.
Ever since the first SSB game, I always thought that Fulgore was missing. He really deserved to be in the game as he was KI's poser boy. If not, then Orchid.
