Barbara

Anybody who was watching the DS obsesively in Nintendo Power should know about Jam With The Band as one of the coolest looking launch titles ever released.

Wiki said:
The game first appeared at the Tokyo Game Show in the Spring of 2001 where it was announced for the Game Boy Advance—although it was originally being developed for the Game Boy Color—under the tentative name Game Boy Music. It lacked many of the features in the DS game, such as the touch screen and wireless multiplayer, but it had a wide variety of instruments to play, and featured the same graphical style of the DS game; it also starred the game's mascot—who was still unnamed at the time—Barbara the Bat. The game was delayed for several reasons, but the two main reasons were [1]:

The limited technology of the Game Boy systems made it difficult to produce a good music game; in particular, the lack of buttons and an inadequate sound system.
The developers of the game had trouble getting Nintendo to approve the licesned music they had planned to include in the game.
Eventually, Daigasso! Band Brothers was released in Japan for the Nintendo DS in 2004 as a launch title; the game was also announced for a North American release, but as of June 2006, it is still listed as "in development" and no release date has been announced. Due to the effort required to localize a music-based game, licensing and changing all the songs, it is likely that the game will never receive an English-language release.
Well, so we may never see an english release. Anyway, it is a very fun rythym game. Unlike other rythm games (DDR, Beatmania), what you do is actually PART of the song. If you don't hit it right, the song is actually messed up. Import it from Japan or buy it ar Fry's Electronics in their game section under "foreign".

Worried Gamer: This game looks fun, but I'll have no idea what the songs are like, being in J-Pop at all and stuff.
Pro Gamer: why, not at all. sure, it has J-Pop, but it also has songs from all around the world, like "Smoke On Water" and "the entertainer" as well as classical music and Nintendo VG music.

Here is a full song list:

Advertisment

Yeah, it's a REALLY fun game, made and prduced by Nintendo themselves!

Here is my movesets and stats for her:

HEIGHT- 3/5
POWER- 3/5
SPEED- 2/5
JUMP- 3/5
GRAVITY- 2/5

B- Jam- Barbara pulls out her guitar and jams out a tune on it. Hurts anybody in front of her. The closer they are, the more damage it will deal. Keep on pressing B to keep her jamming.

Foward / Back B- Guitar Swing- Barbara swings her guitar vertically upwards, then horizantaly after they are hit in the air.

Up B- Amp Thrust- Barbara gets on top of an amp facing the ground and strums a tune. The sounds come from the amp and send her upwards.

Down B- Bass Quake- Barbara pulls out an amp on both sides and strums a tune. The bass sends out shockwaves in both directions and hurts opponents.

SUPER SMASH ATTACK- JAM WITH THE BAND- Barbara gets up on the stage with a band and jams, sending out shockwaves at all opponents. Shockwaves always hit but do not send them flying, but rather build up damage.

CHARACTER SYMBOL- GUITAR

CHARACTER STAGE- CONCERT

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN KIRBY SUCKS UP BARBARA- Ears w/ piercings

So, there it is. It would be a shame if she made didnt make even the slightest apperance in Brawl in anyway.

@Parrothead: How do you know these characters? I need your skills.
When I kept seeing popular video games, I got bored of them. When I saw Japan-only characters, as well as lesser-known ones, I became more interested in them. There are some dedicated websites for some of them at the official Nintendo of Japan website. And when I heard about emulation, I tried out the Japan-only Nintendo titles and lesser-known Nintendo titles using emulation. If any game has too much Japanese text, then I would wait until someone translates it or wait until someone writes an English walkthrough for it.

She won't be playable.
man did you read the other post first?? you're sort of stating the obvious as if were still in the "Maybe" state--Like someone say "too many reps won't happen-- ok not alike, but no she won't be is insinuating that there is some slight possibility when the real word you're looking for is "She isn't playable" which a recent video has displayed

Wow, so people here did know about her before the commercial. I find that kind of awesome. At least she made it into the game. And that song list looks pretty interesting. I might have to acquire this game somehow.

Its too bad shes an assist cause the moveset you made her would work out awesome, a great addition to the ssbb roster. The game she is from sounds sick as well. I am def looking into importing it after all the info you put up, one of the few great posts i have seen on this site.
