The lack of a true title name annoys me. What I liked about Melee and Brawl is they were cool to use in a sentence. So many times at a friends party I'd hear "Yo man, wanna brawl?" or "Let's melee!". What will I use for this one? Wanna smash 4? Ugh, doesn't have the same ring to it. We'll adapt I guess.

The person said there weren't many fight synonyms left after Melee and Brawl, all of those are synonyms, well except for the very last one. I dun care if they are the name or not. lol
I meant that there weren't any good ones, I mean, "Super Smash Bros. Confrontation"? It sounds bad, and its a mouthful. The boards would have people say things like "Anybody want to confrontation?". The other ones weren't much better. I wouldn't be surprised if Smash turned to numbered names like Mario Kart.

I dunno. Rumble has a good ring to it. Clash isn't too bad either. Scuffle and Feud are decent. Skirmish sounds kinda cool as part of the title but really wouldn't go go in "Anyone want to...". Quarrel is also decent.

Dissension, contention, confrontation, and war were basically me just being a smart a**. :p

I agree, Rumble sounds the best. "Super Smash Bros. Clash" has an odd ring to it...

The titles are Super Smash Bros. 4 (for) Wii U/3DS. It's a pun.
That flew right over my head, but still, you can't really name a game of this caliber based on a pun though. I do have more respect for the titles now though, but they are just way too robotic and Nintendo squeaky-clean for me.

I think its the official title. I know, its really dumb. But I will forever refer to both versions as Super Smash Bros. 4.
SSB4. Brawl has 5 letters, and Melee has the same. 4 characters for the fourth game, rather fitting huh?

I think "for 3DS" and "for Wii U" are fine considering the cross-compatibility idea. It gets across the idea that these game are the same in some ways, but also different in some ways.

It's a shame we haven't had "Super Smash Bros. Violent Disagreement" yet, though.

Just think of it like this:

Super Smash Bros. 4 3DS and Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U. And if you ever want to shorten it...
SSBU and SSB3D.

The problem is that if the games were called Universe and Dimensions then people (presumably trying to troll people) would complain about the titles being "too confusing to the casual consumer".

I think problem is less the genericness of it, and more the long-windedness of it. Although I do hope at least in texts and forums we are sensible enough to abbreviate it 'SSBU' and 'SSB3D', or stick with 'SSB4' when reffering to them collectively. There is still a problem however, as mentioned here above. With Melee, you could say to your friends 'let's play some melee!' As with Brawl. 'Let's play some for WiiU!'....?

Also, I'm curious as what it is they will refer to the battles in this game.

You have a very valid point.

It seems really annoying to literally say out the whole title. Especially if you say "Super Smash Bros. 4" it's literally going to bring up ten questions about which console, amirite?

Even when I try and bring up the topic I literally have to spend a whole minute explaining which one I'm talking about.

Voting for Universe and Dimensions.
