So... I'm revamping my team... again...

But I wanted to post it before I actually made it. Get some feedback before I go EV training and breeding.

Here we go!

Ninjask:@Leftovers
252 speed, 80 attack 172 HP
@Jolly
-BatonPass
-Swords Dance
-Substitute
-X-Scissor
------
My passer. Stall to get some boosts, pass to the next poke...

Salamence:@Life Orb
252 Attack 252 Speed 6 HP
@Adamant
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Aerial Ace
-Earthquake
------
Aerial Ace for Heracross. Earthquake for coverage. Hopefully pass some speed and an SD from Ninjask, and hopefully a sub.

Electivire:@Expert Belt
252 Attack 252 Speed 6 Hp
@Adamant
-Earthquake
-Thunderpunch
-Cross Chop
-Ice Punch
------
Standard Electivire. I prefer T.Punch over T.bolt as a matter of preference.

Cresselia:@Leftovers
252 HP 128 Def 128 Sp. Def
@Bold
-Moonlight
-Calm Mind
-Ice Beam
-Psychic
------
I love my Cressy. She's gotten me out of many a jam. Psychic for STAB, Ice beam for coverage.

Absol:@ Scope Lens
252 Attack 172 Hp 80 Speed
@Jolly (Super Luck)
-Me First
-Stone Edge
-Night Slash
-Psycho Cut
------
Crit hitter. Get a pass of speed/SD from Ninjask, and sweep. Considering Aerial Ace over Me first for coverage.
--------------

The next few I'm going to name are sideliners, that I'll be switching in from time to time. I think it's safe to say the first 4 (maybe 5. Haven't determined Absol's place on my team yet) are gonna stay on the team. The rest are ones I'm thinking about, have made, or have been used.

Vaporeon:@Leftovers
252 Hp 126 Sp. Def 126 Def
@Bold
-Substitute
-Acid Armor/Haze/Wish
-Surf/Wish
-Baton Pass
------
Bulky sub passer. He'd make a good starter, so I could pass a nice sub to Ninjask. Acid Armor is for Defense buffs. Haze is obvious. Still not sure what I wanna do with this guy yet, but I like the idea of bulky subs.

Lucario(Spec):@ ??
252 speed 252 Sp. Att, 6 HP
@Timid/Modest (haven't decided yet)
-Aura Sphere
-Dark Pulse
-Dragon Pulse/Flash Cannon
-Psychic
------
Special sweeper, with a lot of type coverage. Make's Tyranitars cry.

Lucario(Physi): @??
252 Speed 252 Att 6HP
@Jolly/Adamant
-Blaze Kick
-Close Combat/Sky Uppercut
-ExtremeSpeed/Earthquake/bullet punch (for STAB)
-Shadow Claw
------
Physi sweeper. Reason why I have two Lucarios is so I can swap them out (and mindgame) my opponents. Good type coverage between the two. Extremespeed is for focus sashers. Sky Uppercut is on there cause it's coming with the Blaziken this guy is being bred with. Looking for an opinion.

Magmortar: @Choice Scarf
252 Speed 252 Sp. Att 6 Hp
@Modest
-Flamethrower
-Thunderbolt
-Psychic
-Focus Blast
------
This guy has been around for a while. I like him. But he can't take a hit, and he isn't as fast as I'd like. Looking for a replacement.

Gengar:@Focus Sash
252 Speed 252 Sp. Att 6HP
@Timid
-Energy Ball
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Hypnosis
------
I love my Gengar, but he's not as durable as I'd like. :( Energy Ball for swamperts (which I know, my team is lacking swampert coverage).

Kingdra:@ Expert Belt/Wet Rock (when I have someone to team with him)
252 Speed 252 Sp.Att 6 Hp
@ Modest (Swift Swim)
-Rain Dance
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Dragon Pulse
------
I like this guy (more than I thought), but don't know where to put him. :-? EDIT: He takes Salamence's place on the team (when swapping). Good resistances, and decent type coverage. Trying to find someone/something to compliment rain dance with this guy.

I'll post more (and clean up the format) as I get to it.

I'm trying to be different.

It's not that I don't like Umbreon, it's that everyone and their mother uses Umbreon.

Metagross; Meh. Still an option though, thanks.

Anybody else? I'm looking for some real critique, please.
Hey hey hey, nothing wrong with Umbreon , lol. And just like you, I'm a little different with my Umbreon.

As far as Absol though, the way that it's set up makes it seem like it doesn't belong. Instead of having the second passer, you could pass to it instead. Granted it puts more of a burden on your shoulders to figure out what to pass to from Ninjask, but that way if you can figure it out the pokemon that you pass all those boosts too will be a pain to take out.

If anything, you could use Absol as another sweeper and then maybe swap between any of the sideliners to give yourself a solid special sweeper. Kingdra or Gengar (I know you've been iffy on him, but he's fast. Faster than most things, which should count for something) would be a good choice from there. For Absol then, as a pass-ee, you could give him either two more attack options instead of his own Baton Pass and Mean Look, or use one more attack and a status inflicting move. Night Slash and Psycho Cut are awesome for the crit hits and you could use Brick Break to compliment that. If you indeed pass from Ninjask, that'll give him great options against nearly everything (Night Slash for a STAB attack, Psycho Cut for anything NS resists (and my Crobat), and Rock Smash can crush Tyranitar/Weavile). I only say Rock Smash because if you can pass even one Swords Dance to Absol, It'll do enough damage. Considering it has a 50% chance to drop defense, whatever it doesn't take out it will nearly cripple.

Absol:@ Scope Lens
252 Attack 172 Hp 80 Speed (I just switched Att and Spd since you'll be coming from Ninjask)
@Jolly/maybe Adamant (Super Luck)
-Night Slash
-Psycho Cut
-Rock Smash
-Stone Edge/Thunder Wave

In other words, with such high speed it's coverage will be great for your team.

As far as a sixth pokemon though, you need a special sweeper. Cresselia's main focus is a wall with special attacks as a bonus (think my Umbreon; a wall with devastating physical sweeping potential). Gengar's still my suggestion for a special sweeper mainly because of it's speed. Having him mainlined would give you a second pokemon weak to Ghost, but in a metagame based entirely based upon speed, he'll be one of your best assets. Ninjask is your only pokemon with a possible speed over 300 without any boosts. Salamence needs a Dragon Dance to get going, and by then it's already taken a potentially fatal hit from something faster. Having Gengar mained will have two pokemon with 350+ speed and better sweeping potential. The only problem that I see with that though is one of those speedy pokemon isn't dedicated to sweeping like Gengar. Once Ninjask is taken care of you're essentially running on steam. Powerful steam, but steam nevertehless.

The main thing you'll have to worry about it getting through as many of your opponent's team as quickly as possible with either a pokemon that's already fast (Gengar, maybe Salamence as it can take a better physical hit than special after Intimidate) or hope that you can get off a clean Attack/Speed pass from Ninjask to something that'll run with it. Preferrably more Absol than Electivire because the latter is more common (ThunderPunch = possible Motor Drive bait). To my immediate knowledge nothing can resist all of Absols attacks short of a Dark/Ghost type combo.

Anyway (wow, long post), Ninjask is a huge piece of the team. It can pass to anything (even Cresselia for a speedy wall, lol) and lead to sweeping potential. The main weaknesses I see are maybe type disadvantages and, depending on what you passed speed to, a Def/Sp.Def wall. Also, if you have to put Ninjask back in for any reason, you run the risk of it falling quickly, especially if Stealth Rock has been put into place. The team as a whole is great. Having been on the receiving end numerous times I know all too well it's potential. That in mind, I can find it's counters and make an epic post as I just have. Hopefully you can use such information to your advantage on the fly and make some equally epic matches.

Thanks dude. ;)

Maybe my team needs more redux...

Maybe it's time to move past.. Salamence and Electivire.... :(

I dunno. Maybe I'm not thinking straight either (I have a headache).

I like the idea of Stone Edge on Absol. More critical hit goodness.

I'm still considering Dusknoir, maybe that Venusaur you and I talked about. My team is lacking something, and I can't put my finger on it.

I have a couple of suggestions.

You need to have a special sweeper. Since your team is kinda reliant of Ninjask and therefore Stealth Rock weak, I recommend a Rapid Spinner as well. Hmm, special sweeper AND rapid spinner? I think you're looking for Starmie. Surf/IceBeam/Thunderbolt/Rapid Spin sounds good to me.

Oh and Rock Smash on Absol = lol. -.- Anyway, just use him as a crit-happy sweeper with Night Slash/Psycho Cut/Stone Edge/Me First

Never considered Starmie...

Hmmm................

Night Slash/Psycho Cut/Stone Edge (me likey)/ Me first eh... Hmm...

And why doesn't anyone look at Kingdra as a Special Sweeper? > > I think Kingdra is gonna replace Salamence.

I like your team. You still need a special sweeper though >.< Kingdra is only a sweeper if you can get rain dance in there, but even then he doesn't pack that much of a punch unless you surf. Also, having rain dance just to benefit one poke isn't a great idea.

Btw, some competitive matches have a Species Clause, meaning you can't have 2 Lucarios on ur team at the same time. It's probably ok for friendlies though. (I've thought about having Ninjask and Shedinja on a team too but Species Clause prevents this on Shoddy T_T)

You misunderstand what I'm doing with Lucario.

I'm gonna have two, but swap them out (Ex: Lucario/Spec is sidelined while I have Lucario/Physi in. :) Keep one off the team, while the other is in battle).

I see what you mean by Rain Dance. It'd kinda hinder Cresselia.

Hmmm................

Need a spec sweeper...

I thought about a walling/calm minding Dusknoir:

Dusknoir:Leftovers
@Bold
252 Hp 172 Def 80 Sp. Att
-Calm Mind
-Pain Split
-Shadow Ball
-Ice Beam

Not much of sweeper. It'd just be another Cresselia. :-?

Help me Smashboards! :urg:

EDIT: Added Bullet Punch to my list of options for Physi Lucario.

Thanks wii4mii. Not as detailed as your other posts, but I guess that's a good thing, right? ;)

Changes made to Vaporeon.

And yes, I HATE Heracross. :( The fact that he could give most of my team a problem, I just wanna get him KO'd as quickly as possible (assuming Salamence gets some boosts).

Hmm the team is pretty much standard with the exception of Absol. You can't really take Meteors from SpecsMence, so might want to be careful with that. Then again, if everything goes according to plan, you shouldn't be taking too many hits. Because you'll be depending on Ninjask a bit, Stealth Rock kinda ruins your fun if you get Roared out too many times, as does Ice Shard. I don't like Me First, but that's just personal preference. It is extremely entertaining to see a SpecsMence to get hit by its own Meteors though. Cresselia and Vaporeon's EVs need work as well. Way too much SpDef for a CM set. For Vaporeon, cut down on the HP a bit and focus on one defense. If you choose Acid Armor, perhaps Bold might not be the best option. Also adjust your EVs accordingly if you switch to Calm. Use your EVs to complement your nature and moveset. For Gengar, Focus Sash only on a lead. Tyranitar, Hippowdon, and Stealth Rock are far too rampant to warrant Focus Sash any use otherwise. Let's see... don't really see any other glaring weaknesses, except for starter Scarfchomps.

I'm dropping Me First. I was playing my buddy today, and when I used Me first, he went first and killed me. >_>

See, I like moves that actually do what they say.

So now what do I drop Me First for?
What move did he use? You should go first if its an attacking move.

Cross Chop the first time and Earthquake the second time (I believe). I'm pretty sure that both times were up against my Electivire so either one would've definitely worked well, except for the fact that it didn't.

...I'm a little dumbfounded myself...

Me First has no priority modifier on it, which is why I mentioned your Absol's complete dependence on Ninjask. Swords Dance, X-Scissor, Fire Blast, Sucker Punch (in case you don't have speed boosts), and Rock Smash all work. Pretty much self explanatory. Fire Blast obviously for Skarmory, Forretress and friends. Don't laugh at Rock Smash. A 2HKO on Tyranitar is hawt, and that's not counting in crit or attack boosts. The defense drop is also helpful against some things too.

Of course Me First has priority... that's why it's called "Me First". You're supposed to attack before your opponent... I think you should test this further.

The last three times when I used it though, I didn't go first. :( IcePyro can attest to this.

Considering a new poke; Help before I add to the team please.

Magnezone:Leftovers
Relaxed
Magnet Pull
252 Sp. Att 128 Hp 128 Def
-Magnet Rise
-Thunder
-Discharge/Thunderbolt/Charge Beam/Thunder Wave
-Flash Cannon

Thunder is on there because I have a rain dancer on the team, and Magnezone can benefit from this. I put Charge beam on for Sp. Att boost chance. My problem with Magnezone is that his movepool isn't as large as I'd like it to be, but I still see potential in this guy.

HP Ice/Grass; I'm not a big fan of Hidden Powers (though I guess for Magnezone, he needs it). Ice would most likely work best, vs. ground types. I went relaxed (isn't that +Defense?), because I need a physical wall. A defense at 361/329 isn't bad. Neither is a Sp. att at 394/359. Hmm.....

This requires more thinking on my part. Any other suggestions (this is the most feedback I've ever gotten on a team. ^ ^) ?

If you want Defense, go Bold then...You don't need Attack since all of Magnezone's good moves are Special...

And what about a ReflectCoater? Reflect to up the Defense like :psycho: , and Mirror Coat those suckers...Don't know if his SpDef can take it though...:ohwell:

Oh BOLD was +Def -Att. > < Dur!

Reflect coater eh... hmmm.... I'm not too sure how well that would work for me. And on Magnezone, what would I end up keeping/dropping?

I'm considering the HP Ice, it's just a matter of breeding for it.

Watch out for [p]hazers. maybe Protect over sub with a Focus sash

Salamence:@Life Orb
252 Attack 252 Speed 6 HP
@Adamant
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Aerial Ace
-Earthquake
------
Aerial Ace for Heracross. Earthquake for coverage. Hopefully pass some speed and an SD from Ninjask, and hopefully a sub.
If your "assuming" you get the speed and attack, why not bypass Dragon dance for a 4th Move? You don't HAVE to, because you may not get them all off, but maybe replace it with Fire Blast to take on Scarms. and Heracross can't take shee1t from a DD's Dragon Claw, anyway. Use Fire Blast over that, if not DD.

Electivire:@Expert Belt
252 Attack 252 Speed 6 Hp

Standard Electivire. I prefer T.Punch over T.bolt as a matter of preference.
Fine

Your missing 4 EVs: give the defenses 2 each, and since your CMing, use max defense since your special one is getting boosted.

I wouldn't do 2 sub passers on a team. consider passing aqua ring ;P

Lucario(Spec):@ ??
252 speed 252 Sp. Att, 6 HP
@Timid/Modest (haven't decided yet)
-Aura Sphere
-Dark Pulse
-Dragon Pulse/Flash Cannon
-Psychic
------
Special sweeper, with a lot of type coverage. Make's Tyranitars cry.
Modest to @HKO switch-in blisseys, and give it Choice Specs

Lucario(Physi): @??
252 Speed 252 Att 6HP
@Jolly/Adamant
Go with the physical one

Magmortar: @Choice Scarf
252 Speed 252 Sp. Att 6 Hp
@Modest
-Flamethrower
-Thunderbolt
-Psychic
-Focus Blast
------
This guy has been around for a while. I like him. But he can't take a hit, and he isn't as fast as I'd like. Looking for a replacement.

Magmortar @ Life Orb
Forgot Ability: Rash
252 Sp. Attack, 232 Speed, 24 Attack
Mach Punch
Overheat
Thunderbolt
Earthquake
Great mixed set I saw on smogon.

Gengar:@Focus Sash
252 Speed 252 Sp. Att 6HP
@Timid
-Energy Ball
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Hypnosis
------
I love my Gengar, but he's not as durable as I'd like. :( Energy Ball for swamperts (which I know, my team is lacking swampert coverage).
GAR... TOO.... MANY... CHOICES....

CAN'T....FINISH....*faints*

I'll post more (and clean up the format) as I get to it.

Since you have so many choices I would get on Shoddy and try them out to see which one works best. It'll save you a lot of breeding and raising time.

shoddybattle.com

It REALLY helps you plan out what works and what doesn't. A bunch of Smash Boards people are on there, I've battled Wii4Mii and IC3R on there.

I'd go on shoddy, but I don't have the means right now. Thanks though, I'll look into when I get a chance.

Okay, I'm considering a Specsmence; But I need to know if this will work;

Salamence: Choice Specs/Choice Scarf/ Wise Glasses/ Life Orb
252 Sp. Att 80 Speed 172 Hp
-Dragon Pulse
-Flamethrower
-Hydro pump
-Earthquake

I put Earthquake for coverage. I know that the lack of EV's in attack will cut it's usefulness(?), but if used for the first move, it could throw people off, and make them switch into defense walls, or flyers (will only work if I'm using wise glasses/life orb). I don't have Draco Meteor, cause I HATE the idea of Sp. Att dropping 2 stages on a poke who's moveset is based on Sp. Att.

Thanks for the feedback and help everybody. :) Greatly appreciated.

Draco Meteor on specsmence is required, otherwise you'd be better off with Bandmence.
Here's why:
525 x 315 = 165,375
607 x 160 = 97,120

The first one shows how much damage Specsmence does over two turns with Draco Meteor, the second one shows the same with Bandmence using Dragon Claw.
See the difference?

Ah. Thanks. In that case...

Salamence: Choice Specs/Choice Scarf/ Wise Glasses/ Life Orb
252 Sp. Att 80 Speed 172 Hp
-Draco Meteor
-Flamethrower
-Hydro pump
-Earthquake

Or, from my physimence...

-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Earthquake
-Flamethrower

Someone on a different site suggested it for Skarmorys. Not sure how I feel about it.

Run the specsmence with Dragon pulse over Earthquake, for late game sweepeing when you can't afford the -2 special attack

Shoddy helps a lot. Its one thing to have a good team, but thats only half of it.

The other half is having experience with your team, and right now Shoddy is pretty much the only way to get to practice extensively. Personally, whenever I switch teams, I start doing a lot worse until I get better.

Like I said, the reason Earthquake is there, is to lure out defensive walls. I didn't like the 2 stage drop, which is why I wanted Dragon Pulse over Draco Meteor. :-/ Desicions, desicions...

I'll certainly try/get shoddy. The only problem is getting a comp that will let me (roomie is always on WoW, and I'm at work right now. >_>)
