This, is my current team, as of 8/23/07.

EDIT: Team Redux as of 8/27/08

I've renamed my team, to reflect those of a representive of someone/something in Norse mythology. :looks at username: You get the idea.

Ninjask: Valkyrie
(Valkyries were Odin's 'messengers', looking for warriors to fight in the battle of Ragnarok)

EV: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 6 hp
Item: Leftovers/Berry perhaps?
---
Substitute
SwordsDance
X-Scissor
BatonPass

(Name is in refrence to the dragon that eats the roots of Yggdrasil(?) in Norse mythology)
Nature: Adamant
EV: 252 Att, 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: Shell Bell
---
Earthquake
Dragon Claw
Dragon Dance
Brick Break

~~

Cresselia: Freyja

Item: Leftovers (something else, if Ninjask has Leftovers?)
---
Moonlight

Nature: Adamant
EV: 252 Att , 252 Speed, 6 Hp

Item: Focus Sash/Wide Lens (situation depending)
---
Hypnosis
Shadow Ball
Energy Ball
Thunderbolt

~~

Magmortar: Surtr
(A fire giant in Norse mythology, involved in Ragnarok)
Nature: Modest
EV: 252 Sp. Att, 252 Speed, 6Hp
Item: Life Orb
---
Flamethrower
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast

~~~~~~~
And that's my team. I still have that "mess with you" Zapdos, if anyone still wants to see it.
Zapdos: Thor
(Son of Odin)
Nature: Timid
EV: 252 Sp.Att, 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: Kings Rock (for U-turn flinching)
---
Thunderwave
Whirlwind
Tunderbolt
U-turn
~~
"Retiree"
Rhyperior: Heimdall
(The guardian of the gates to Asgard)
Nature: Relaxed
EV: 252 Hp, 129 Att, 129 Def
Item: Leftovers
@Adamant
Rates, and critiques/help please.
Since no one is around...
This, is my current team, as of 8/23/07.
I've renamed my team, to reflect those of a representive of someone/something in Norse mythology. :looks at username: You get the idea.
Salamence: Nidhogg
(Name is in refrence to the dragon that eats the roots of Yggdrasil(?) in Norse mythology)
Nature: Adamant
EV: 252 Att, 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: Atm, Kings Rock. In the future, I'm thinking Life Orb
---
Earthquake
Dragon Claw
Dragon Dance
Brick Break
Good. Nice type coverage.
~~
Cresselia: Freyja
(Norse goddess of fertility. She's the only female on my team, and it's a cool name)
Nature: Bold
EV: 252 HP, 129 Def, 129 Sp. Def
Item: Shell Bell (not sure what else I can give her)
---
Moonlight
Ice Beam
Psychic
Calm Mind
Good. Lefties, so she can recover each turn.
~~
Electivire: Mjolnir
(The legendary Hammer of Thor)
Nature: Adamant
EV: 252 Att , 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: Expert Belt
---
Thunder Punch
Ice Punch
EarthQuake
Crosschop
Good.
~~
Rhyperior: Heimdall
(The guardian of the gates to Asgard)
Nature: Relaxed
EV: 252 Hp, 129 Att, 129 Def
Item: Leftovers
---
Earthquake
Avalanche
Stone Edge
Megahorn
Good. You can use Choice Band on this one, so you can give Freyja Lefties.
~~
Gengar: Loki
(Norse god of mischief)
Nature: Timid
EV: 252 Sp. Att, 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: None at this time
---
Hypnosis
Shadow Ball
Energy Ball
Thunderbolt
Good. I like this set. Since it's Timid, you can give him Wide Lens, abuse Hypnosis, and you may consider Focus Blast over Energy Ball (optional).
~~
Magmortar: Surtr
(A fire giant in Norse mythology, involved in Ragnarok)
Nature: Modest
EV: 252 Sp. Att, 252 Speed, 6Hp
Item: None at this time
---
Flamethrower
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast
Good. This one should hold Life Orb.
~~~~~~~

Zapdos: Thor
(Son of Odin)
Nature: Timid
EV: 252 Sp.Att, 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: Kings Rock (for U-turn flinching)
---
Thunderwave
Whirlwind
Tunderbolt
U-turn

Good.
~~~~~~~
That's all I got to say. Ice can give problems to your Perior and Mence, while a good ScarfChomp will quake your Mortar and Vire. But with your wall I wouldn't worry much. Nice team Odin, 9/10.
Thanks H@wk. :)
Question on some of these items:
Wide Lens: Where can I get it? Gamefaqs isn't helping. > >
Should I keep Kings rock on Salamence?
Life orb to Magmortar isn't a bad idea. :)
Choice band is a battle tower item, yes?
About EnergyBall on Gengar; Someone said I had a Swampert problem, and should give Gengar EnergyBall to cover it.
I think the only thing my team is lacking, is some sort of water move. :shrug:
But most stuff weak to water (except fire) is weak to something else.
Anything else? Anyone? Bueller?
Wide Lens - I believe it's a prize on the Game Corner for a mere 1000 coins. Let me know if I'm wrong.
King's Rock on Salamence is ok. Since your Mence is the sweeper type, you may consider Shell Bell.
Choice Band is a Battle Tower item, yes. I have an extra one (from Emerald lol) if you want I can give it to you if you don't have enough points.
Focus Blast was an option, but Energy Ball work wonders againts Pert/Perior.
I can suggest training a Gyarados, since you have an Electivire in your team, when you think Gyara is being threatened by a Bolt, switch Vire in. Gyarados is one of my favorites Pokes, and I think one of the best water Pokes :D
My buddy gave me a Feraligatr with DragonDance, Earthquake, Waterfall, and Ice Fang. It wasn't bad.
Gyarados is a physical sweeper?
I'll let you know about the choice band. That'd probably be really helpful. Feel free to PM for a FC, and we can arrange a time or something.
I'll check on the Wide Lens now. :)
Oh, Feraligatr is pretty good. But remember Gyara can Intimidate.
Gyarados Adamant @ Muscle Band ( I used this cause didn't have anything else at hand)
252 att 252 sp 6 hp
EQ
Aqua Tail
Ice Fang
Dragon Dance
Hmmm.... I like... He'd fit in nicely. Fills the water gap.
What's a muscle band do exactly? (don't remember if I've gotten that yet.:psycho:)
I don't like Dragon starters as most starter pokes are prepared to shut them down. As was mentioned Gyarados pairs nicely with electivire. If you want to keep him as a starter go with life orb over kings rock.
Cresslia should hold leftovers.
The Rhyperior is fine but if you want to switch a poke I would replace him before anything else. If you're looking for a water type but still need the ground coverage Swampert has always been a good choice.
Gengar can hold life orb, leftovers or a choice item.
Magmortor should hold choice specs or expert belt.
With Zapdos that's seven pokemon so I'm guessing he's an alternate. He'd make a nice sub or permanent switch for Electivire. A nice team overall with only a few minor weaknesses.
What's a good build for Swampert? Never really considered one.
Can't help you with a Swampert set, though I saw one once I really liked:
-Stealth Rocks
-Roar
-Waterfall
-EQ
As far as your Gengar goes, have you considered using Destiny Bond over Hypnosis? It could help you take down a tough poke. And give it Focus Sash, Gengar can't take a hit. I've felled many Alakazams by surviving with Focus Sash. But if you want to keep Hypnosis, Scope lens is a good item option.
A request from O D I N to rate his updated team.
This, is my current team, as of 8/23/07.
EDIT: Team Redux as of 8/27/08
I've renamed my team, to reflect those of a representive of someone/something in Norse mythology. :looks at username: You get the idea.
Ninjask: Valkyrie
(Valkyries were Odin's 'messengers', looking for warriors to fight in the battle of Ragnarok)
Nature: Jolly
EV: 252 Speed, 252 Attack, 6 hp
Item: Leftovers/Berry perhaps?
---
Substitute
SwordsDance
X-Scissor
BatonPass
For the berry, I'd try Leichi. I'd consider Aerial Ace over X-Scissors, as this team seems to have a Heracross weakness. X-Scissors is for Psychics and Darks. Cresselia can wall Psychics while Salamence can KO Darks after some Dragon Dances.
Salamence: Nidhogg
(Name is in refrence to the dragon that eats the roots of Yggdrasil(?) in Norse mythology)
Nature: Adamant
EV: 252 Att, 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: Shell Bell
---
Earthquake
Dragon Claw
Dragon Dance
Brick Break
No SpecsMence? Use Life Orb over Shell Bell.
Cresselia: Freyja
(Norse goddess of fertility. She's the only other female on my team, and it's a cool name)
Nature: Bold
EV: 252 HP, 129 Def, 129 Sp. Def
Item: Leftovers (something else, if Ninjask has Leftovers?)
---
Moonlight
Ice Beam
Psychic
Calm Mind
I'd put some EVs from Special Defense into Defense or Special Attack.
Electivire: Mjolnir
(The legendary Hammer of Thor)
Nature: Adamant
EV: 252 Att , 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: Expert Belt
---
Thunder Punch
Ice Punch
EarthQuake
Crosschop
Good.
Gengar: Loki
(Norse god of mischief)
Nature: Timid
EV: 252 Sp. Att, 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: Focus Sash/Wide Lens (situation depending)
---
Hypnosis
Shadow Ball
Energy Ball
Thunderbolt
If you want Wide Lens, your moveset should be Hypnosis, Thunder, Focus Blast, and Shadow Ball.
Magmortar: Surtr
(A fire giant in Norse mythology, involved in Ragnarok)
Nature: Modest
EV: 252 Sp. Att, 252 Speed, 6Hp
Item: Life Orb
---
Flamethrower
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast
This seems to be a Special Sweeper. Magmortar isn't fast, so I suggest puuting Choice Scarf on it.
And that's my team. I still have that "mess with you" Zapdos, if anyone still wants to see it.
Zapdos: Thor
(Son of Odin)
Nature: Timid
EV: 252 Sp.Att, 252 Speed, 6 Hp
Item: Kings Rock (for U-turn flinching)
---
Thunderwave
Whirlwind
Tunderbolt
U-turn
I
d put Leftovers on it. If Whirlwind works for you, great, but I still think you should have HP Ice or Grass.
"Retiree"
Rhyperior: Heimdall
(The guardian of the gates to Asgard)
Nature: Relaxed
EV: 252 Hp, 129 Att, 129 Def
Item: Leftovers
---
Earthquake
Avalanche
Stone Edge
Megahorn
A little more EVs from Defense to Attack.
Other options I'm considering:
Jolteon
@Timid
252 Speed, 252 Sp.Att, 6 Hp
Substitute
Agility
ThunderBolt
BatonPass
Good.
Gyrados: KingsRock/Flinch item
@Adamant
252 Speed, 252 Att, 6 Hp
Waterfall
Ice Fang
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
No King's Rock. Life Orb or Leftovers.
And that's all. :)
EDIT: Looking at a Swampert possibility as well. Need a few more suggestions on a Moveset.
Rates, and critiques/help please.
You have a small Rock weakness. Not too big though.
8.5/10
Where do you get these names from? They sound cool.
