Smash Ace
The Story:
I PMed Azen weeks ago, asking him if he'd consider coming down to SoVa and bringing Chillin and the rest with him.
His response? "Maybe, if more people from Team Arlington come, and if there's a big enough venue."
What we have:
ODU's gameroom is reservable. I'll have to contact an office to see if there are enough outlets/extension cords available to power multiple t.v.s and cubes, but aside from that, all I need to do is fill out a form.
There's new talent popping up all over SoVa. O-NO's biweeklies are seeing new smashers turn up, and there's tons of students at ODU who play the game but don't have a way of making it to O-NO's. Once I start putting up flyers, expect an even higher turnout from ODU.
The competition's getting better, too. O-NO's got VA beach covered, and I'm training over at ODU. I can only imagine what's going on at other universities and over in Richmond. When the big guns come down from the North, I'm sure they'll be pleasantly surprised.
What we need:
As many TA members to come as possible. G-regulate, Tope, and all you other peeps, let me know what's a good date for you all.
In regards to payout...it might be considered gambling to do this on campus...UNLESS we form an ODU smash club and have a small $1 venue fee for "fundraising." We'll just need a staff member to sponsor us. That's something else I'll find out.
I'm looking at either $10-$15 for singles and $20-30 for doubles. We gotta make it worth NoVa's while. Otherwise, I can up the venue fee to help pay for gas.
For those of you who have been following the smash scene for awhile...imagine it. Playing top 25 smashers. Let's make it happen.
I'll add more when I think of it
