Right now, Youtube is going through an improvement of their videos's quality.
This mean that a good number of those videos can now be seen with a better quality right now by adding &fmt=18 to it.

Be awre, togh, that IT DOESN'T WORK FOR ALL THE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE YET! It's still a process that is going on, but don't forget to try, just in case.

I know that seen like that, the improvement doesn't look that great, but once set in motion, this really does make a difference.

CORRECTION:
rather than 6 (who give a 448 x 336 resolution)
please write &fmt=18 (who give a 480 x 360 resolution)

This is amazing. Is there anyway to automatically make videos goto the pages with the &fmt=18 url tag on it, or only when you post the link on the boards here? Can I make my channel vids have the tag I mean?

No. As far as I know, you have to post each link with the tag on it, no other way. It's still an "on process" thing youtube is going through.

Is it just me, or do the videos look like they're using new format without the "&fmt=18" suffix?

It wasn't doing this a few days ago, and happened after youtube put up a tag saying they were doing some maintenance.

Seems to be some loading problems. Reupload the page until it's fully loaded.

&fmt=6 uses the same old flash video format, only higher resolution and bitrate.
&fmt=18 is the iPod version. It is the same as &fmt=6 except h264. Because of this, make sure you have the newest flash player to be able to play them!

I've have no problems using &fmt=18 on any video so far. It even stutters less than the normal version.

Edit: Actually i also noticed with adding &fmt=18 the video does load faster. Theoretically this would be the opposite of what it should be. Better Quality/Resolution = bigger filesize -> longer buffer. I cant really explain why but Im happy with it . Oh and it wasnt ocassionally. I kept adding it to like any video i watched and every video loads alot faster for me.

When it works you cannot minimize the screen. It is great! But I guess it will only work if you upload good quality videos XD
