Nook and the background.

Anyone who uses this as an argument of him not getting in should stop. Most anti-Nooks forget that the Animal Crossers have been in the background numerous times yet Nook has appeared in a non-gameplay screenshot.

To sum it up, NEVER use the background argument.

just a waste of time, common sense, and logic. and there were 2 shots of him in the background, one with todays update. gameplay. nuff said.

If that's the case, then neither the animal crosser or nook can get in.

To have as many Animal Crossing characters as possible with little work? The answer is said simply by looking at a few screenshots of the stage. If you couldn't come up to that, I guess you just aren't "thinking it through". It can be summed up to as little as a True or False value. If it can get more characters in the background, do it.

I'm not pro Nook, but that's a horrible attempt at trying to making your view sound supreme while making any other view sound like little thought was put into it. The irony bothered me enough to post.

Edit - In defense of the Animal Crosser, look at the screenshots in today's update;

In many of them, you see two Animal Crossers of the same gender in the background, and other times of both genders. What does this mean? This means the developers don't mind more than one instance of the villager to be playable since he or she doesn't really have a set in stone identity, just the human characteristic. So while I really, really doubt Nook will get in, Animal Crosser is still quite possible.

I'm with you Kuma. I still think Nook will be in. Sakurai is just very bad about prolonging it. First the stage, then an item, then an AT, where due for a character next month I think. I don't understand all the unwarrented hate for him. It's not like Sakurai is throwing dice going, "Alright. I'll choose between Tom Nook or Black Knight." I welcome the inclusion of all characters, especially if they are unique.

It's not that I'm anti-Nook, it's just that the Animal Crosser is more likely so I feel that I can get my actual hopes up. If Tom Nook gets in, it'll be just as good if not better. The movesets for him have been well thought out, but the character the player actually plays as seems infinitely more likely. When they include non-main characters, it's after the player character has already made it in such as Link and Zelda.

Smashville: Tom Nook is present. No fighters are present.

Battleship Halberd: Meta Knight is present. No other fighters or enemies are present.

I always thought the idea was referring to Nook being taken out if he was chosen as a playable character. Really, from my experience with coding, it could be a simple true or false value. Though I never advanced in coding so I could be missing something.

But if someone plays as Nook, the coding value for his removal is "True" thus he won't appear in the background. From my experience, that would be quite simple. But since this is advanced coding, I know there's a lot more to it but it's still very, very basic to them. o.o;

Because Tom Nook will randomly appear in the background, and he will be wearing one of his four different attires. He's only been seen in two because he's only been in two screenshots.

If I recall the current Fox model hasn't been seen in any Starfox game as of yet. He's a combination of different models. So your argument falls there.

And you can have alternate outfits in Melee. Doesn't mean they are different models altogether.

The Animal Crossing stage is a very dynamic stage, characters often enter and leave the stage. So, it's not like it's not completely crazy that Tom Nook could not appear on the stage when you play as him. Plus, Sakurai could always be trying to purposely mislead us.

Anyhow, a character isn't deconfirmed until he is officially deconfirmed, so constantly bringing up the "in the background" argument is kind of pointless.

Well it appears that Resetti's update shows different screenshots based on the language selected. You see Tom Nook in the Japanese screenshot, but not on the English screenshot. Of course, Japan just shot Tom Nook down once more.

Basically, it's safe to assume that Tom Nook is a background character.
