So today I got Project M. I know this is a highly competitive mod for Brawl, but I have a couple of questions to help me start.

1. What's the best controller to use? (If you could list the controllers from best to worst that'd be much appreciated)
2. Are there any techniques I should learn?
3. Are there any good videos I could watch to learn said techniques?
4. If I had Lucario as my main in Brawl, should I use Lucario in Project M too?

Those are all of the questions I have as of now. Thanks in advance for answering.

1. whatever feels most comfortable, but i personally recommend not wiimote+nunchuck, since i think there are some things you just can't do on it? someone correct me if i'm wrong.

2. the only thing you should learn no matter what is shffl. if you can't short hop consistently, you can't play the game. if you can't fast fall and lcancel your aerials consistently, you're going to be very upset. anything else is gravy. just lab with your primary character for a while and get used to shffling.

3. probably, but shffling is simple enough, you just need to grind it down and drill it in. (yeah yeah, innuendo...)

4. they play quite differently. if you're new to pm, i'd recommend not lucario, as he doesn't play like a normal smash character. probably mario, shiek, or marth to learn your basics, then move on from there.

find your local area's fb group and keep up with tourneys and smashfests, then go to those. even if you don't enter the tourney, just show up and play friendlies and watch.

otherwise, netplay, which i can't help with due to complete lack of experience.

So I've been practicen a bit and I found that I keep using the left stick (classic controller) to jump. Should I get out of the habit of that?

I wouldn't worry about it too much - there's a lot of tech (esp. involving wavedashing) that becomes more difficult to perform with tap jump compared to a button press, but if you're doing what you need to do consistently then there's nothing to worry about.

I personally turn tap jump off. It makes up airs and up tilts easier, as well as teleports off of the ground with mewtwo. Most smash players do this. But use what you think works best for you. As for the controller of choice, classic and gamecube work the best.
