I've been playing Smash Bros since the first smash bros released on 64
I've been trying to play Kirby recently but for some reason everytime I try to Up Special Kirby pulls out his hammer instead, Im to the point of tears with frustration, I die at least once a game because my character does a side special instead of up special

smash 4 is becoming almost as disappointing as ninja gaiden 3, is this really the end of smash bros? I cant believe nintendo would flop so hard to create a game with such horrible unresponsive controls, Are they going to come out with a patch soon? This game is becoming such a huge disappointment and its really breaking heart

What controller are you playing with? I noticed when I played with the Pro controller that I often accidentally input side commands when I wanted to go diagonally upwards since I was too used to the Gamecube controllers' notches. Other than that, it's just a case of adapting to the new engine - the controls in Smash 4 are just as tight as they've always been.

The honest answer I can give to your question is: "No, this isn't the end of anything." What you do from here is your own choice: you can acquiesce and give up on the series you've been playing since N64 days; or, you can quench the fires of frustration and calmly examine the inputs in Training Mode.

When SSB4 (3DS) first launched I was unfamiliar with playing Smash using a Circle Pad. I would occasionally get Hammer instead of Final Cutter when trying to recover. I did not cry. I did not give into frustration. I did not give up on the series I love.

Yello, looks like you have the case of the BNF disease, my friend. I advice you to go see the Doctor and get cure.

Jokes aside:
This has never happen to me as Kirby. On the 3ds version, I know I have constantly messed up with Yoshi's Up B and Greninja Up B. Now, on the Wii U version, Greninja still give me problems.

Most likely because of the way you input UpB. If you're trying to come towards the ledge with upB, you'll pull a sideB because you're trying to fall either to the right or left, and press B too early before even tilting the right stick upwards. You have to point upwards, THEN press B to actually use the Up B, then after you can slightly alter Kirby's horizontal movements from there. Also, I presume that you play online often, so laggy controls can't really be escaped from in that case, maybe get a Wii U LAN adapter or something.

Just pointing it out, but if you're actually using a Wii U pro Controller and bought it online, chances are that you may have gotten a forgery instead. The Wii U Pro Controller for me (from GameStop) works amazingly, and I'm not really getting any of the problems you're getting with Kirby, maybe if I'd list one it would be using Final Cutter in the wrong direction of the ledge, but that's about it (I still do recover on the stage, however). I'd recommend this video if you're curious.
