No more character reveals until release?

So here is the Starting roster that was shown at the Pre-Release event. Each of the characters on the roster have been revealed already. The only ones missing are Lucina and the Miis. So I'm thinking that Sakurai is gonna keep the unlockable characters secret until the game is released.

Honestly I'm not sure if this is worth posting about but its been something that on my mind since this morning.

With less than a week left I also agree that there won't be any more character reveals. I don't think he would put characters under a spoiler warning this late in the game.
I think the next time we hear about characters will be when they are being unlocked after release.

In the Brawl Dojo, after Japanese launch, the "unlockable" characters were placed behind Question Marks. When you'd click on them, it would ask if you're okay with spoilers, and if you agreed, it would take you to the page for a hidden character (e.g. Luigi, Ganondorf, Falco, R.O.B., etc.).

Since the CSS leaks are all but validated by now, there are 11 characters yet to be officially revealed/confirmed. So if/when they show up on the official Smash Bros. site, they will likely appear behind special "question mark" blocks, as was the case for the Brawl Dojo.

Well to us we might have know because of the leak, higly chance it will be true, but I don't kniw why, now there are many emotions and feeling crossing around my heart and my mind. I am excited for this game but ever since the leak that I don't like is being considered as ledgit. I am also feel down of this game. But then afterseeing a leaked intro video of Smash Bros facing with AKB48, my hype emotion is back again. Tell you the truth I had never get a Smash Bros game when it first launched, so this is my first time.

Well, there's only a week until release. I assume the next week will just be standard news with no new character talk, then after that we'll start hearing about the 16 un-revealed unlockables.

I assumed this much ages ago. August was either going to reveal the whole roster or reveal one character at the end of the month with that being our last guy.

I was expecting Wario, but it turned out to be Shulk, which was a surprise. But it seemed obvious we weren't getting anyone else after that.

if we get another character, it will be on the release day, as a celebration, but I don't expect anything before that.

And if we DO, it will either be Wario, Jiggs or Ness if I had to guess.

Yeah. It's doubtful we're getting any new reveal trailers unless it's a celebration thing. At best, Sakurai MAY reveal the spoilers for the unlockable characters on the site on Friday instead of waiting until Monday to do it.

I'm very positive we wont get any more character updates until after the game comes out in japan, but in the end its only 1 more week. Brawl started revealing unlockable characters after it came out in Japan.

Yeah. It's doubtful we're getting any new reveal trailers unless it's a celebration thing. At best, Sakurai MAY reveal the spoilers for the unlockable characters on the site on Friday instead of waiting until Monday to do it.

It actually fits. 64 had 4, Melee had 11, and Brawl had 14. Any less than 15-16 would be pretty odd.

Well, to be fair, we've just gotten a massive dump of info. It's pretty plausible that Sakurai might spend a good chunk of next week going over stuff from the "final build" demo.

I'm highly doubting we'll see anymore character reveals. It's kind of insane to think we have a 38 (40 counting all Mii Fighter styles) character starting roster, with 18+ more unlocks in addition to that. This is a huge roster, and I'm actually really satisfied with there being no more character reveals until release. It's a measly week away, and no more character reveals just confirms more that we'll have the huge starting roster (which I personally prefer)

That image is indeed what's assumed to be the starting roster. So it's looking likely that it'll turn out that, just like all the other Smash games, the only characters who get reveals are starters. Which is honestly surprising to me, but welcome for sure.

I still believe there's characters they're hiding for the Wii U Release. We don't know Everything about the Wii U Version yet so we'll see!. I think when the Wii U version of the game comes out we'll have additional characters and a Patch to include certain characters will be available for the 3DS Version upon that release.

I love comparing this game to Bandai Namco's own Tekken Tag Tournament 2, because they surprised you with new characters for Free what you updated that game.

Sakurai is pretty much unpredictable. I see a benefit to showing off a character, such as Mewtwo.

Concerning the selection screen, I don't think it's the starting roster. I wonder if the characters in the demo are just there to add variety. It's like Mario Kart 8 demos: they had all the characters playable, but in the real version, characters had to be unlocked.

I think the following will be starting characters:
Mario, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi, Rosalina, DK, Diddy, Link, Zelda, Samus, ZZS, Pit, Ike, Kirby, D3, Little Mac, Fox, Pikachu, Charizard, Villager, Olimar, and WFT.

I really don't want a lot of characters to start with.

Yeah, I don't think we'll be seeing any more till the game's out in Japan. If the leaked roster is to be believed, we'll have 11-17 unlockables, about the same as Brawl. That said, I'm pleasantly surprised that we get a starting roster that's bigger than Brawl's final one. Makes me realize just how many characters are in this game.

Wario would make a lot of sense. Ness was the easiest character to unlock in Brawl, after all, and he'd been a starting character in the previous game like Wario.

So long as Bowser Jr. is interchangeable with all 7 Koopalings and the Clown Copter is doing all the real fighting I'll be alright with that. As with DHD, I can understand people not wanting him but I think after a while he'll grown on the community as an 8 bit ambassador just like the Ice Climbers. Although in retrospect this entire reply probably belongs in a character discussion thread or the Unpopular Opinions v4 thread XD

I think that the next official reveal will be that trailer that's supposed to be shown on October 3rd, the starting roster has already been shown to be everybody that we've officially seen so far except for Lucina. I'm still expecting the spoiler thing to come back on the Smash 4 website, but I don't expect any new trailers yet.

They might still drop a Direct on us this week, or well, just have a livestream reveal of the entire roster. Though I'm honestly not counting on it. (I gave up hope on a pre-release Direct after there wasn't one last week)

People keep getting confused on this. There's no trailer planned for the 3rd. The e-mail that nintendo sent out and the image was saying that the game was COMING OUT on October 3rd and that there was a new trailer to watch for the game (ie. The Shulk Trailer that came out the same day).

Still, I don't expect any official announcements for any new characters for a while, unless there's some DLC characters that will be in the Wii U version at launch.
