I'm sure that most of you have heard about this by now, but I just thought that I'd create a discussion thread for it.

While gamers may be getting an extra large helping of Assassin’s Creed this holiday season, with two full games between current and next-gen consoles, Nintendo devotees will be left out in the cold. We suspected this when the Wii U was left off the list of platforms for Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, but now we’ve had confirmation from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, speaking to Gameinformer. In fact, not only will Assassin’s Creed not be coming to Wii U, but the publisher won’t be releasing any more “mature” games after Watch Dogs. So, basically, just Let’s Dance and possibly another Rayman.

“It’s very simple,” Guillemot told Gameinformer. “What we see is that Nintendo customers don’t buy Assassin’s Creed. Last year, we sold in very small numbers.”
So apparently it's near impossible to have my Smashbros, and third party support too? What a let down folks. Just when I was getting really into the storyline of AC too... Wii U owners still have the third and forth installments of the franchise, but the train ends there. Is it possible that it could come back? Do we just need to sell more Wii U's, or do we need to convince console owners that they are missing out on a quality gaming experience?

No flaming please. Discuss.

It probably will come back because Smash 4 is going to sell tons from casuals to the competitive fans. I am definitely going to be getting Wii U because a lot of good games are coming out this year and next year. For the third party support I hope they continue on, I don't really care about Assassins Creed that much after 3 but they should definitely bring Destiny to the Wii U considering it looks like a pretty good game even though I am not getting on my PS3 :p.

It's not the Wii U's fault. Poor AC sales could have been from the fact that the game was already released on PS3 and Xbox 360, and consumers bought those versions and felt buying the Wii U version would be redundant. The only ones buying the Wii U version are those who are Nintendo-exclusive players, which I'm guessing makes a small percentage compared to the number of people who own multiple consoles.

That may be part of the problem, but it is still the case that PS4 and Xbox One owners are buying these types of games more so than Wii U owners.

Nintendo consumers are usually busy playing good games to bother with anything not-Rayman by Ubisoft.
Are you implying that Assassin's Creed and the like are bad games? If that's your opinion then fine, but I wish we actually had the choice.

To tell the truth, Assassin's Creed II has always been one of my favorite games, I just feel the series is heading in the direction every other 'mainstream' series seems to be heading.

Most Wii U gamer uses a PC for these kind of games. Besides Assasins Creed is boring. And I don't say that in a hipster way, I tried it and it is pretty generic

Believe me, I understand this fear. I'm only on AC3, but everything is looking good so far. I love sci-fi for one thing, and I think the story telling is simply top notch. I hope they end it soon, but I stick with media that I'm a fan of for better or worse. We'll just have to see of course, but I don't think it'll ever get THAT bad.

Well I wish I could afford a good gaming PC. This is the problem.

Which idiot told you you need a good gaming PC? God I hate those PC pricks, my normal one can run it fine. You don't need max settings to enjoy a game. And if you do, I pity you. A lot

I was told that I should buy parts and build it myself. I assumed that I needed a good gaming PC for everything to run smoothly as I prefer. I don't have any money for such things regardless. All I have is laptop, so is that enough?

I bought ACIII for dirt cheap like a year ago. I didn't get very far before I was bored of it. His movement surprisingly feels funny to me, like he is reacting to my button presses rather than me directly controlling the character. There's that sort of delay, and I guess that's so they can make his movement and transitions look smoother.

I heard that ACIII is the worst in the series, so perhaps it was unfortunate that Ubisoft started Nintendo exclusive fans on what is said to be the worst of the series and that led to these players not buying 4. I actually saw ACIII at Wal-Mart for $19.99. When every other discounted Wii U game like Sonic: Lost World and Wonderful 101 is $29.99 and ACIII is the only $19.99, that to me says something about the success of the game on Wii U.

Yes, it seems that there's no longer a difference between sprinting and jogging like in past games, and they've seemingly completely abandoned the whole "controls matching to body parts" gimmick. I've gotten used to it now, but I wonder if they changed this for the Wii U version or on all systems for this iteration of AC.

I'm not sure that's the problem, but I haven't played all the way through yet so... From what I've seen the game got excellent reviews for the most part, and I'm much too invested in the story to not give it a shot. I guess we'll see. I think the primary problem is that Wii U owners just don't like these sorts of games, because sales did alright on the other systems.

Well if it didn't do well because Nintendo fans typically don't like that kind of game, then I must fall into that category. I gave it an honest try like I do every once in a while with 3rd party games. I was surprised by how much I ended up enjoying Call of Duty. The game is both overrated and nagged on too much at the same time.

I'm not too big on the series, but my dad likes it; he plays them all on 360. However, it sucks Wii U is losing variety and third party support. It needs all the third party games it can get due to the slightly inferior hardware. Of course, like Shog said, Wii U gamers will mostly play third parties on PC, or even One/PS4.

this saddens me considering the upcoming 2 games look interesting.

Yes, I agree completely. I was really looking forward to being able to continue the storyline, and could've sworn that Unity had been listed for Wii U at E3, but that has all apparently changed now... Hopefully the series will come back eventually and I'll just end up having to watch a few walkthroughs.

3 and 4 really didn't interest me honestly, but rogue and unity look pretty cool. Rogue has an interesting stoy and unity looks really really cool. I would take either one. Sigh.

I wonder how will watch dogs would have done on wii u had it not been delayed. I remember reading somewhere on a certain website watch dogs wii u was pretty high on pre order charts. I think it was higher then 360 and ps3 versions on that website. What a shame...
