Im not sure if this has been discussed yet (sorry if it did), but im concerned as to why sometimes when landing after performing a dair, i get massive lag, but other times i was able to follow the landing with tilts very quickly. is there something i'm doing that took out the lag? timing maybe?

Sort of...

What you're doing is auto-cancelling the Dair. If you land after the move has finished (except aerial lag), you aren't subject to a different lag when you land.

Note that it's impossible to autocancel a dair out of a short-hop. You need to full hop it.

Yeah, full jump, because basically when you do d-air with a short hop you don't usually finish the move completely and theirs a short lag. When you full jump and perform the entire technique, you get no lag.

Just ask!
Too bad our D:air takes so long to finish . . .
A full hop works, like other here have stated.

alright, thanks guys. the full jump dair approach seems kinda predictable though, and i use dair approaches a lot. is there a way to make it less predictable?

Use...other...approaches? Really the best way to be unpredictable is to use different moves when you approach. Use N-air approaches or F-air, or SH PKF.

Well try tripping or stunning them with a few down tilts, then streak above their head with a hop d-air, or combo with a grab then execute it. And you can do d-air with one hop, just don't hold down, tap down and "a" and let the tech. go by itself, while you steer it whichever way you want with the analog.
