In an interview with RPGamer, a NIS America rep mentioned that they are indeed planning to bring the PS3 title X Edge to North America. A release date has yet to be finalized, but the rep said that NIS America is currently tracking a March 2009 release.

X Edge (pronounced Cross Edge) is an RPG title that brings together characters from games by Capcom, Nippon Ichi, Namco Bandai, Gust, and Idea Factory. It's kinda like Chaos Wars, only hopefully this one won't have the atrocious voice acting. Hey, even if it did, I'd still buy it if they leave the Japanese voices in it.

Anyway, here are a couple of videos of the game. The opening riffs in the PV rock (the song is Blade of Tears, by the way), and after that comes a gameplay vid.
I don't know about you but I'm a fan of all of these gaming franchises...Etna ftw

Few points I want to hit on this.

First and foremost, I was completely shocked when I was bummin around on Gamespot and comprehended that this was coming out. Japan is finally starting to give us games that some of us actually give a **** about. Even if it wont be "the next big hit", cause lets be real, a team of Morrigan and Etna..... *rolls eyes*.

1) I cant believe they're bringing this game to America, because the whole cross-company srpg genre really doesnt work here (imo).
- I mean seriously. I still want to get it partially for the horrid voice acting, but did anybody actually buy Chaos Wars? I still dont know what companies that crossed anyway.
- Who the heck chose Capcom and Nippon Ichi? That's a farfetched combo. I'm not knocking it, I like it, and it's good that it's actually companies that are known in USA, But seriously....
- If they're willing to bring this over to USA, with the amount of lessor known companies in the mix, it just makes me wonder "WHY DIDNT WE GET NAMCO X CAPCOM, AND WHY DO WE STILL NOT HAVE IT".

2) The game looks fun as hell.
- I've seen a few of the gameplay vids and the battle system looks like something you have to play to understand. That's always a perk. New is good. Nippon Ichi likes trying new. Therefore they're good.

3) I think one thing that's going to turn alot of potential buyers away from the game is the character choice.
- I mean, it makes sense for them to choose what they did, the games are out in japan. But for bringing it out in USA, the character selection is really only going to catch a select few people for a long time (read: until they bring the other games out in USA, if they do). Mana Khemia 2? No, I want my Anna Lemouri rocking the everlasting **** out of people like she did in Mana Khemia. I remember that, that brings back good times (great times mind you, that game is fun as hell).

4) And this is just a point of discussion. What in the hell happened at Capcom for them to allow all these new Morrigan sprites and models? XD

I'm not normally one to complain about graphics, but the DS could probably crank out what the gameplay video was showing. On a PS3 game... that isn't good. Not to say that the game itself won't be good, but...

Well, it seemed to be turn-based from the video, and I usually hate turn-based battle systems.
