Outside of the final episode, Goku's first fight with Jiren, and Vegeta's first fight with Jiren, the Tournament of Power arc in Super was pretty weak to me, easily the worst arc of the Dragon Ball series (not including GT).

Like it's suppose to be this huge battle royale thing but everyone's just going after U7, and there was talk of team work but severely lacking in that department. Goku's asspulls with restoring energy is ridiculous and is cranked up to parody levels and then there's a moment where he gets knocked down and 17 sacrifices himself because he can't get up, yet later on he gets back up once again to fight Jiren and he got up all those other times?

Gohan was written to job as well while 17 is written from Cell base form level of Z to being able to fight with Jiren just because he protected an island from poachers. Okay lol.

There's a lot more that could be said, but yeesh that arc was pretty bad. Goku Black arc was way better.

The only reason he(17) could really stand a chance with Jiren is cause Jiren couldn’t kill and even then 17 never really did anything that affected Jiren outside kf that back attack.
