I thought lewd fine art was awkward and inappropriate long before I knew postmodernism existed.

That said, I do also agree with postmodernism considering the only thing that defines art is what insular cliques of people who revel in their pretentiousness say it is or isn't. Art isn't like science, it's not proven by trial based experimentation and mathematical theorems but by subjective taste. And until if and when the majority of art is judged to be art or not by scientific study, art will thus continue to lack any objective standard, merely subjective ones by often insufferable individuals.
There is an objective standard to art though. That being technical skill.

Things like perspective, anatomy, composition, lighting, color theory, etc... The more skilled the artist is in these categories, the better art they'll create. There are literal schools that teach these, and people, who studied to the point where they discovered how to apply these things to create the illusion of reality on a flat canvas. THAT is very scientific in and of itself. Leonardo DaVinci wasn't just a painter. He was also a scientist, and one of the greats that created those standards, that became the foothold for hundreds of thousands of artists in the years to follow.

Yes you can derive meaning from art that took lesser or no skill, but that's because humans have the capacity to apply their own experience into pretty much anything. You could literally look at a bag of potato chips, and find meaning in that, but that does not make it a work of art.

Deconstructionism was a mistake.

so. . .what's next for Fate?

I won't be getting it or a while. I want to read Part 4 of Jojo, watch ZZ Gundam, and probably do Land of the Lustrous, but just for the sake of asking.

FEH is so addicting, oh my goodness. I can not stop trying to get summons and leveling up my team. :p
That's a huge noobie mistake.

You gotta learn to see if the units in a banner are worth spending orbs for.

However, what is "worth spending" is usually a matter of preferences.

For example, I don't care about cavalries right now because I'm running an Armor team. But for someone else, it might be exactly what they need.

You know, thinking on it, here's a fundamental difference between art and science.

Science is flexible. It changes when new data is discovered, or old data is found to be flawed. And yet it also applies as the closest thing we have to fact. Art is static, over hundreds of years something will never cease to be considered the best that it can be, the way it was made and what makes it beautiful the best it can be. Yet art in itself is merely subjectivity incarnate.

. . .In a way, traditional art study is the conservatism to scientific study's liberal leanings, oddly and in many cases ironically enough.

Well guys I'm sorry, I gotta give up my art career.
I'm not some artist who showed what the real artists were, just some guy draws. Guess I'll never live up to Da Vinci.

I apologize I've not been a real artist all this time. When you think about it, I have never made real art.

Eh, I gotta disagree, art is bound to change.
Like, the things we study is becayse they're history, not because they're good.

Like, I've seen this a lot in literature, most of the books I've studied suck ass and are full of pretentionism ****. Sure there are those that stand the test of time but it's not a rule.

The next thing to watch for Fate is Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works ufotable edition. It's around 26 episodes (first two episodes tell the same thing, but one is from Rin's perspective, the other is from Shirou's perspective).

Once you finish UBW, you can then jump straight into Heaven's Feel, which is a movie trilogy that is still ongoing. The first movie in the trilogy will be out on Blu-Ray by early May, so it should be available online around then.

Marx trailer.

I hope Magolor gets added at some point.

OMG, he looks amazing! And the Elemental Combos are pure genius and a very clever way to implement some of his moves! The only attack that looks like it didn't come back was his giant mouth laser attack, but otherwise, he's pretty much got all of his attacks from Superstar.
And he even brings his laugh with him. OMG, he looks so much fun to play as!

Damn, Magolor looks pretty OP, especially with his suction attack!

I'm hoping Susie shows up as an ally some point in the future.

It's kind of funny reading this as, for lack of a better term, a relativist.

Interesting to see other perspectives.

Not so sure on that as well.

At least in my own understanding of it, which admittedly is a few years out of study, art gradually shifts and changes. Ultimately a lot of it can only be compared with itself or its peers. Time marches on, and the goalposts aren't moved forward, they're uprooted entirely and set elsewhere.

Makes it rather difficult to call anything a "best," really, except by its own standards or in comparison to a certain movement. You can only really get "betters," with certain things being considered "better" than so many other things they end up in the Louvre.

When you think about it, I have never made real art.
I did, once.

All right I want poke this for a second.
So if art died because of Post Modern Deconstructionalism. Is there such a thing as modern true art? I don't mean like Da Vinci or Michelangelo, I mean examples of today. 90's, 00's, 10's.

Looks like that one is on Netflix too. Neat! And convenient!

I generally prefer manga to anime.

but I made an exception because "IT WAS ME, DIO!, ZA WORLDO, yare yare," etc.
:061:
I mean, you're gonna miss on David Bowie's animated greatness and other great animated sequences. Jojo is one of those series where the adaptatuon is so great you should watch it over reading the manga but if it's your preference, then do what you feel like.

So how did he come back to life?
Well, we don't know. We know he's summoned by the Dream Staff, which for all we know, can teleport him to Kirby and thanks to Kirby's heart power that he got, makes Marx friends with him.

In all serious, he's merely a cameo character and his appearance is non-canon, unlike Magalor who was confirmed to survive his boss fight. I mean, it looks pretty dang hard to come back after this without some sort of miracle.

Imo, art is a reflection of the human consciousness at the time of its conception. Post-Modernism only exists, because Deconstructionism entered the collective thought at around the same time for example. (Blame Jaques Derrida for that one).

Truth be told though, deconstructionism is only an extension of Marxism, and Marxism only exists are a result of other ideas the preceded it. Ultimately, deconstructionism is the end result of our liberal values as a free-thinking society. I'm not saying that democracy is bad mind you, but you can very clearly follow the evolution of ideas from the Greeks to where we are now.

In fact, if you look at history, you can see the constant back and forth of ideas and progress as societies oscillate back and forth between liberalism and conservativism, it's this constant push pull, and a natural progression of ideas in human culture. At least when they are unrestrained and uncensored. This then then reflected in the art and literature and music of those eras. If you study the history of art, you can very clearly see an evolution of artistic expression through the time, and how each newer era is influenced by its predecessors. Art is ultimately a form of communication. It is an expression of being.

Deconstructionism isn't wrong in the argument it presents. In fact, I hate it because it's correct. When you break down art to its most core value: expression, then yes, anything can technically be art, so long as it's an expression of the creators intent, and it conveys some sort of meaning to any preson viewing it. That's the fundamental idea behind deconstructionism. "What truly is X." And it's a very scientific approach to things. However, the reason I hate this idea is cause it's created a horrible excuse to lower the bar across the board, not just in art, but in everything. Apply deconstructionism to culture, and you have blue-haired pixies with horn-rimmed glasses shrieking about the patriarchy, and pretending there are 42 different genders. Truly though, the fault doesn't lie in the idea itself, but rather in the irresponsibility of how it's been delivered to the idiot masses, who don't understand the nuance of the concept.

Thanks to deconstructionism, it's now valid to compare the works of Michelangelo who painstaking crafted the creation of man on a CIELING, to some nutjob dropping their period blood on a canvas, calling it "art," and arguing that they have equal value and therefore equal merit thanks to subjectivity.

It's also thanks to deconstructionism that we have moral relativism, but that's a whole nother topic.

My one real disappointment with Fate/Zero, other than the ending's general thing

is that Gilgamesh didn't get to get a full fight. As awesome as Rider was, his fight was pretty much a stomp. I guess it's because he needs to live for another series or something, but im still kind of sad.

Actually...

Gilgamesh is always like that because of his gigantic ego and even bigger arrogance.

Marxism is built on the idea that we are all equal.

Marx's entire philosophy was built on the concept of equality. Not just equality of opportunity, but equality of outcome, as that's literally what communism is.

Derrida then applied an extension of this idea, to critical thinking in literature. Death of the Author fundamentally argued that a creative work exists outside of the creator's intent, and that the subjective meaning than an individual can derrive from it, is EQUAL in value to whatever the creator wanted to express. Deconstructionism is an extension of Marx's philosophy, and Derrida was a huge fan of Mark, in fact he said multiple times that :

Derrida referred to himself as a historian.[50][51] Derrida questioned assumptions of the Western philosophical tradition and also more broadly Western culture.[52] By questioning the dominant discourses, and trying to modify them, he attempted to democratize the university scene and to politicize it.[53] Derrida called his challenge to the assumptions of Western culture "deconstruction".[52] On some occasions, Derrida referred to deconstruction as a radicalization of a certain spirit of Marxism.[54][55]

See, I was willing to listen to your thoughts until this came up.

I still don't know why my post got this wall of text as a response, unless you quoted the wrong person.

I will say, "art" isn't a word you use to describe a good work, it's just a classification. While I personally do not like the "random paint on a canvas", it's still art if the creator intended it to be so.

Any fight that Gilgamesh would take part would be just like Rider's. The guys is literally the strongest being on the entire Nasuverse and Nasu himself said he could end the 4th Grail War in one night if he wanted to.
The problem is that he's incredibly arrogant so he doesn't take fights seriously.

Yeah, I've still got a ways to go in my own art. But seeing how the works of guys like Jackson Pollock(even if he could paint traditionally, he's known for just splashing tons of paint on a canvas and calling it a day.)

It's gotten to the point where a guy can actually **** in a can, close it and it'll get to be an a museum or art gallery. Or that time a guy put his glasses on the floor and they thought it was a piece an exhibit.

I can at least respect a lot of commercial art, since to some degree, the elements of compsition, lighting, perspective and so on are still used to create various pieces. Granted I have my own issues with modern animated series, but some of them have merit in their own way.
