And yeah, Calamity Ganon sucks as an antagonist, as does pretty much everything else within the story sans Zelda's backstory.
Link is lowkey just a Mary Sue in BoTW.

Don't forget how the Gerudo outfit somehow worked despite him having a ****.

Still waiting on for realsies post-apocalyptic Zelda.

Like, it seems for all the hype BotW put on Ganon, the extent of his capabilities was destroying the castle and the surrounding town.
BotW does a post-apocaliptic setting in a much more interesting and hope-filled way and it's some true Ghibli-like **** and I love that. I eat that stuff up for breakfast.

I mean, so did the guy wearing a disguise when you had to get it in-game. Link just don't need make-up I guess.

I feel like the only person who doesn't question the crossgender ****. I mean, FFVII did it first (for me). It's not really groundbreaking stuff when they only spot you as a guy if you only take an article of one set of clothing off (except the Sand Boots for some reason but I guess it's because the guy who gives you them seeing you as a girl = everyone does too). They're not really smart in the first place with AI, so I can see it reflect easily in lore.

That is one bull**** speed feat. He would have to be moving literally at FTE speeds to accomplish this.

Kofi Kingston will not be a double champion by the end of WM35...and now I’m more depressed than an emo and edgy Batman

That's my issue, I'm fine with lush life-filled post apocalypses, but BotW doesn't feel like there ever was an apocalypse.

The capital city including hyrule and the guardian graveyard to the east I think are the only places that would even imply "Yooo some **** went down here way back." And of course besides the random wooden house ruin strewn about. Pretty much every surrounding city seems almost untouched by the fact the mechs are wreaking havoc.

I dunno, I kinda expect at least some people to be slightly concerned about the giant evil corruption beast surrounding the center of the continent.

Welp, SMO and BOTW getting VR modes.
There was a problem fetching the tweet
SMO is just a few mini objectives, but BOTW seems to be the whole game.

Well, not quite done since I'd really like Odd Def Wave, either as a skill or a seal, to have a permanent +6 on her Def that can't be challenged due to her ability to shrug off debuffs. But since I don't have that, it's the best I can do.

Is Dragon Emblem Sensei redfeatherraven redfeatherraven proud of me? :3

VR is weird if the game isn’t in first person though.
Knowing Nintendo's track record, it's gonna take them about 10 years to understand this. :^)

Tbf Astrobot is 3rd person and is considered one of the best PSVR games.

VR in 3rd person can work.

The low framerate and resolution is what worries me. That's gonna make people sick for sure.

It's been 100 years. People move on. Their lives are doing well enough besides monster attacks and everyone knows not to get near the castle so why bother worrying about it?

Hard agree. Hyrule Castle Town was amazing, easily my favorite area of the game because it made the devastation feel real. The other towns are basically pristine, and I get that 100 years have passed but there's still roaming Guardians, you'd think they'd have caused more damage recently.

It would've been cool to have a village or something that was recently destroyed by Ganon's forces. Would've made the danger feel even more immediate because as is, citizens could essentially leave the center of the country alone and be relatively fine. Guardians apparently leave the populated areas alone, the only real threat are the monster attacks on travelers. That and maybe the Yiga, but they're more concerned with Link than anyone else.

My favorite part of Hyrule Castle is unironically the Stalnox guarding the Hylian Shield.

Not for the fight or the shield, but the fact is that it's a Stalnox. Are you telling me 100 years ago, the Hylians just decided to enslave an entire Hinox and keep it prisoner for ****s and giggles? Is it the Jabba the Hutt of the Zelda universe that we never knew about? Was it a form of execution? It was there for some reason, and I don't know what.

I’ve thought up atleast part of the 4th character in my side scroller idea

I haven’t decided what species they are but their main weapon is a straw boater that they toss like a boomerang like Kung Lao from Mortal Kombat. It can be used to open gates or drop drawbridges too. Their other weapon so far is undecided. I’m thinking of maybe dynamite or something lol
:p

Agreed.

However:

Tbf Astrobot is 3rd person and is considered one of the best PSVR games.

VR in 3rd person can work.

Seconding the lot of this.

Off the top of my head Moss is another example of a good 3rd-person VR game. I'd also throw Augmented Empire in there (a plurality of the games I've got on my Go could fit this bill honestly), but I doubt that name'll get a reaction like Moss will.

One caveat is that these games work best when we disassociate ourselves from the main character, typically as an assistant or outside observer. Whereas with both Link and Mario, despite the 3rd-person perspective there's meant to be a strong association between the character and the player - it's a big part of the reason both are such blank slates. It'll be interesting to see if that messes with people's heads or not.

Low resolution concerns me, but low framerate does more. It took a lot of optimization to get BotW to where it is now (remember the early patch to fix the framerate in Korok Forest?) and rendering the gameworld twice for VR could reintroduce that in an environment where the repercussions involve re-tasting your lunch.

Camera control will be another massive point of contention. As I've noted a few times, smooth locomotion cameras in VR also do a number on my stomach, an issue I'm not alone in. The best way to resolve that, IMO, would be a first-person view - but the control scheme necessary to implement that properly, thanks to how many movement and tool options Link has, would probably require a 6DoF solution. Having fiddled with Labo enough to know the kind of silly **** their IR camera can get up to I can conceive of ways the Switch might address this, but realistically it'd need additional equipment it ain't yet got.

All that said this is an exciting prospect. It'll get even moreso if they decide to revisit the idea later for a first-person view in either or future games, and even more moreso if there's a Switch hardware refresh with more oomph later on.

Lots of demotions in Heroes which is nice
The demotions are nice, especially Sothe, Legault, Silas and M!Morgan. On the other hand, while the idea that you won't get pitybroken by a unit like Luke or Mist in New Hero and Special Hero Banners is pretty nice.......it still feels very cheap that they weren't demoted.

Yeah there’s no reason why they couldn’t have done. So many great units would be available then
