daily reminder that Ho-Oh got an epic intro to his reveal in HeartGold and also an epic battle song where as Lugia just jumped out of water and got a ****ty battle song in Soul Silver

Ho-oh had to get the reveal and song to make up for the fact that Lugia has the better design and typing.

To be fair, it now seems as though Lugia was a simple afterthought, only created for marketing purposes last minute. When I worked with Pokémon for Pokémon Symphonic Evolutions, I remembered thinking that, although I prefer Lugia, Ho-Oh has a far better presentation in the games.

To be fair, it now seems as though Lugia was a simple afterthought, only created for marketing purposes last minute. When I worked with Pokémon for Pokémon Symphonic Evolutions, I remembered thinking that, although I prefer Lugia, Ho-Oh has a far better presentation in the games.

More or less applied to the anime too at some point, in a weird way.

It appeared in the first episode of the show, couple years before the second set of games came out. Probably as a way to hype the next generation up as it was never followed up on (maybe the old director talked about his plans for it but I'm not too knowledgeable in the anime to make that claim.)

I know Lugia had it's own movie eventually (and now is getting another), but with the way Ho-oh showed up in the show along with the fact that the beta GS didn't have it all. It makes me think that originally GS were gonna have just one big legendary with the legendary trio, similar to Red/Blue and it's handling of legendaries (not counting event mons like Mew.)

I mean wouldn't doubt that. but if that's the case, why didn't they just use the better designed pokemon for marketing?

Indeed. The anime was used as marketing tool both in Japan and abroad. In Japan, the games had not only already been announced but also had a planned release date too. Though, what turned out to be a quick release ended up going from a 1998 release to a 2000, almost 2001 release in Japan.

What the **** happened

After some workarounds my N3DS' R button is no longer messed up, just took a little pry and work. The only thing that's bugging me now is my stylus not sitting place when I lift it up. Thing almost falls out sometimes.
