Just how much data does a game have to not be able to fit on the combined storage of the cart and on-system memory? O.o

I can't see this actually becoming common because a game of that size has to be, what, at least 30gigs? Or would this more apply to games that are preemptively going to rewrite the entire game's code after you buy it and need to store that?

Nintendo Switch storage is small, but it's not "literally cannot fit the average game" small. Did 2k get ported over from the PS4 version without any compression whatsoever?

Both good and bad.

Good because it could allow more AAA third parties, bad because why I gotta buy some SD card for this shouldn't the Switch have enough storage by itself?

That said, this isn't really any different from games installing on Xbox One and PS4. It's just that those consoles already have the storage accommodations, it's ****ty there too, mind you.

This reminds me that Tekken 7 also let you play before the game installed, but you were limited to training mode.

I mean the Switch itself should absolutely have gone for more actual storage with the system (32GB is a joke if you really want to attract third parties) but Micro SDs are cheap for their respective sizes (with some exceptions).

Looking on Amazon right now I could get a 200GB Micro SD for £66 (About $86) and have it delivered tomorrow. For what you get that's a good price.

However:

I think 2K are part of the issue as well
I don't think they're using the bigger game carts and plenty of developers are awful at compressing and optimising games.

But I shouldn't really need to pay extra to get the full experience of a third party game releasing on the system within it's first year.

Looking into it, I'm pretty sure 2k is 25 gigs and Nintendo offers 32 gig carts.

They absolutely could have gone for a larger size if they wanted to, whether consumers would prefer the "Switch tax" that would likely come with that or a required Micro SD download I don't know, but this is not one of the games that would on paper -require- this situation.

Basically they could have made 2k without this, barring the possibility of completely recoding the game after it releases.

You don't need to max out the all SLs in P4 to get the True Ending, that's a misconception.

I did it on my first playthrough of the game, and I had about 5-6 of my links unfinished

It could definitely end up that way.

What I'm hoping is that this doesn't become terribly common. It would be real bad if enough future games have this. Only a minority of games requiring the extra money and a download however shouldn't leave too much of a negative impact, I think.

Spirited Away is the first Ghibli movie I ever saw and its what got me into Ghibli. Its very special to me pff I love it so much

I don't remember which was my first Ghibli movie between Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro.
There was a rumor said that on the town Jioufen old street in my country was one of the adaption for the movie's scene, sadly it wasn't real. But that still didn't stop many Japanese tourist coming to that town though.

Team Flight may have all the cool characters, but LOL yeah now I'm suddenly craving McDonalds fries.

That was kinda my issue with P4, it concealed the true villain too well.

After a point it's less about clues and more about process of elimination (it can't be a party member, it's not a Social Link, nor a guy you just proved innocent). But a lot of folks miss this on their first run.

Yeah, but once again you will hear some naysayers say that "oh it's all because Switch doesn't offer more space" and even put up "Nintendo should have made a powerful console with no gimmicks" when it comes to NBA 2K 18's compromise on the Switch.
First one is a bit understandable, but again games getting bigger and bigger mean it will take more time to download it on eshop. Not to mention PS4 versions.
Latter one is so dumb that I don't really care.
And here is a video rambling about "No bad third party ports on Switch". Some individuals keep saying it's Nintendo and consumer's fault that party never came or sell well on Switch, but they always forgot third parties have some responsible as well.
