Incidentally other suggestions also have opponents that have used magic at some point. Fawful has fought Bowser. Suggested Zelda characters oppose Link and Zelda. Black Knight opposes many mages. F-Zero has Spade and Black Shadow opposes pretty much everyone.

With the hint fo magic, I'm not an F-Zero expert, but does Black Shadow use magic? If not, the only people left I can think of are Bison, Vaati, or Phantom Ganon.

So some interesting anime news today. First:

Ash's mother and Mr. Mom ( yes this is intentional) are traveling to Alola with him. So like the games, does Ash actually move there?

What if they are like "We are going to meet your father! Then it's professor's oak's cousin. That be funny but probably not happening.

And Ash's official art actually looks good. Hopefully in final versions of the anime, he looks this good.

And finally the next two episodes of XY have been announced:

The Pokémon Fan magazine in Japan has revealed another pair of new episode titles, this time for the fourty-fifth & fourty-sixth episodes of Pokémon XY & Z. These episodes is set to air on October 13th and October 20th respectively. The first episode features Serena finally battling Ash, and the second features Ash encountering Team Flare Admin Xerosic.
Episode 941: One Last Battle with Ash! Serena's Choice!!
Episode 942: Farewell, Ash-Greninja! Xerosic Strikes Back!!

In the first, Serena has a final battle against Ash before making her decision about her future.

Second:

"Xerosic who escaped during the events of team flare, makes his move in an effort to strike back and fulfill lysandre's goal. Upon hearing this, Ash and Greninja rush into action to stop him!"

So they're probably pulling some bs where Xerosic does something to prevent Ash Greninja from happening again. Thus allowing Greninja to be left at Oak's without it feeling like their bond was nothing.

Which is sort of stupid, but I guess it will work. Could see an Arc in Sun and Moon where the power they have is regained possibly. Maybe to fight ultra beasts.

This reminds me of a story I heard at work. One of the higher ups was at a family gathering and every year, his stepdad would boast about knowing everything better than him. I've never heard of people giving lies about giving into scams.

But one, why would you keep going with it after it was pointed out to be a scam?

And two, even considering I've never heard of this before, that almost sounds "I have to go iron my dog" level of bad excuse making.

Who even thinks about orphanages anymore? I don't know much about orphanages, but I don't really hear about them in terms of modern day stuff so I'm guessing a large chunk of them were replaced by the Foster Care System. And even if there is an orphanage, I doubt it's going to be just one person in charge of rebuilding it, especially not an uncle, which is pretty much the go-to excuse family member.

My brain's dumb today and I'm still seeing holes everywhere in their logic.

Honestly, who doesn't love the Highway Star fight? Imo, it's the DIU equivalent of the geb fight. A Stand with a range so big, you can only find where the user is with intense thinking, and even then is still incredibly dangerous. Plus, it's the need for speed fight.

Speaking of reworking old Pokemon stuff, I wonder how Red/Blue/Green would work if they were remade with ORAS's change it all approach as opposed to FRLG's the exact same, remade in RSE engine methodology.

For one thing they'd probably force you to go through the Seafoam Islands and Gym Leader order would be strictly enforced.
