Alright, we all know that more important and popular series get more representation via characters/stages/music/etc. But which Nintendo series are the most popular and thus more likely to get more representation? Let's try and figure it out!!!

And yes this is related to character discussion. If we can determine which series are more important, we might be able to predict which series might gain or lose characters.

Alright, so that we can figure this out. Let's use a tier system! Series that are most important to Nintendo will be higher on the tier list while series less important will be lower.

To keep things simple. Let's stick with NINTENDO series that were represented in BRAWL via an emblem, so no Golden Sun because Isaac was an Assist trophy. Once we can all agree on the returning series list, then we can start adding new series and possibly third parties.

I will change the OP when we get a finalized list.

Changes:
Electroplankton was moved to F-Tier.
Wii/Mii/DS was moved to B-Tier.
Yoshi's Island was moved to D-Tier.
Punch Out!! was added to E-Tier.
Golden Sun was added to D-Tier.
Pokemon was added to A-Tier.

Animal Crossing shouldn't really be D tier, E tier at best I think. Electroplankton should be F tier.

Definitely agree. Electroplankton is VERY obscure. It sold very few copies and is overall a rare game (that I luckily own ).

I do.
The way I see it, mario is more popular with casual players. But to more hardcore gamers, Mario, Zelda and Pokemon are on the same level (at least in my opinion). I suppose what I just said could go either way. But I personally think Mario shouldn't be alone in the A-Tier.

Well. This list is not just for the hardcore demographic. It's for people in general.

I think Mario has to be either in it's own tier or share one with Pokemon and Zelda. Moreso on it's own. Electroplankton should be lowest of the low tbh. Most of the series in the c tier are just right in my opinion.

But overall, the list looks pretty good. You could even at some point integrate new series that have a chance at being added in, and comparing the importance/where they stand in this tier list.

Mario will remain in A Tier and Zelda and Pokemon are still in B tier for now. Wii/DS/Mii will be moved up to B Tier.

What about the C Tier? Any complaints?

Perhaps, the Yoshi's Island series could be moved to D-tier. I think it's on the same level as WarioWare. At least, YI had games released for DS and will have a new one. Same can't be said for F-Zero.

I'm here to remind everyone that the tiers are made to have an order within a tier. For example, Pokemon is higher than Zelda in the B-Tier so it is already regarded as more important.

Now that i'm looking at it, I really think Electroplankton should just be in it's own tier. Being jsut below Ice Climbers is shameful. It is far less important than pretty much anything else up there.

Not saying this angrily btw. Just pointing it out is all.

Mario (2 - 4 levels, moderate chance of a character being added)
Pokemon (1-2 New levels, high chance of 1 - 2 character additions)
Wii Series ( 1 - 3 levels, moderate chance of 1 character addition)
Donkey Kong (1 - 2 levels, moderate chance of 1 - 2 characters being added)

B Tier
Legend Of Zelda (1 - 3 Levels, low chance of 1 character)
Kirby (2 levels, low chance of 1 character)
Metroid (1 level, High Chance of 1 character)
Fire Emblem (1 level, high chance of a character being added)

C - Tier
Kid Icarus (1 level, moderate chance of 1 character)
