Are Marth and Roy in this game?
Fire Emblem (The Blazing Blade)
Game Summary:
Trouble is brewing in the land of Elibe. Three lords from across the continent will have to stop a dark force from taking over the land. Lyn, Eliwood and Hector are the three main characters of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. Each one has a unique story mode and route (although they all join together with time). Lyn's story acts as a tutorial and a prologue. While Eliwood and Hector's stories are essentially different tellings of the same story. No matter what path you choose, all three heroes will lead their armies to fight Nergal and his army of morphs. These morphs are soulless creations made of dark magic and Nergal plans on using them to bring back dragons to feast on their life force. Along the way, these heroes will meet the dragon Ninian and her brother Nils. Perhaps, they would be useful allies in stopping the dreaded Nergal?
The gameplay is the traditional tactical strategy game that Fire Emblem had been for quite some time. Although, because this game was meant to be the first international Fire Emblem, they did make things easier. You have all of your Fire Emblem staples like multiple classes and weapons, the weapon triangle, weapon durability and support systems. I'd normally go and talk about new things that Blazing Blade added, but gameplay wise, there aren't any big new features like skills, marriage or battalions. There are tweaks of course, but many of the changes people attribute to Blazing Blade actually come from Binding Blade. You can do link battles with your friends, but good luck finding the hardware for that.
In case you're confused with the name, Fire Emblem 7 was initially just called Fire Emblem when it released in English speaking regions. It was retroactively renamed to be Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade.

This game is a great one. By the time I experienced it, I was already a pretty big Fire Emblem fan. And I had played more modern ones like Awakening and Fates. I didn't want anyone to die so I abused resetting (and save states when things felt real unlucky). It wasn't a particularly hard game, but there is some BS here and there. The chapter where you save Zephiel is infamous, and some of the bonus levels where there were lots of breakable blocks were annoying. Still the majority of chapters where fun and well designed.
The cast is a bit of a mixed bag. The main cast is all great and there are some real winners in the supporting cast. Unfortunately, this game has the old FE problem of having some playable cast members just... being there. And the limited support options hinder your attempts at getting to know them. I couldn't tell you what Oswin's personality is, even if he never left my party. My issue isn't really with the characterization. It's just how hard it can be to access it without multiple playthroughs (or Youtube vidoes).
Still I recommend the game and its a great starting point for new fans.
