Hello everyone! Wasn't really sure where to post this. I've been working on a guide to compile all of the information displayed in the Super Smash Bros Direct into one place. Listing off every interesting detail I notice and making my own speculation and assumptions.
I've currently only done the general section, stages, items, and a couple returning veterans.

I've spent quite a lot of time writing this all down, but don't really have anyone to provide a second pair of eyes to point out things I might of missed or obvious spelling errors. Would love some feedback or criticism. Thanks again!

That's super impressive! I like the clean and simple layout, very easy on the eyes.

If there's something missing, it is an analysis of Zero Suit Samu's BOOTY.

Apart from that, I give your hard work two thumbs up!

Thanks very much! I plan on getting to Zero Suit Samus as well as the rest of the characters a day at a time. I just wanted to make sure that everything else looked good before doing so.

I think it looks very good. :-) Not everyone likes to watch a whole video or frogjump between different sections - having articles like that is very convienient.

There's also some information on the items revealed in the press kit.

"I think its safe to think that the boomerang will behave like a boomerang." Hahaha.

I seem to have lost track of the information that came with the press kit. But who ever wrote that wasn't Nintendo right? Because if I remember right they said that Pit's side B was returning from Brawl when actually that's just the new animation for his neutral air attack.

And well I really do hope the boomerang behaves like a boomerang. If I try to throw it at someone in front of me and it explodes on both of us I am going to be so sad.

I didn't hear about any information that came with the press kit. Nintendo has gotten clumsy with their tertiary and intermediary staff before, but I don't think someone from Nintendo would outright make a false claim like Pit's side special returning.

An actual boomerang would be neat. When I first saw it I thought it was the boomerang from the older Zelda games that froze enemies in place until someone pointed out it was from a Mario game. I think I would rather see a boomerang that froze enemies in place.

*The Wii U version will boast a multitude of different themes for all stages just like Brawl did on the Wii.

When did he say this? What does it mean exactly? More night/day themes?

This is really good.

Please don't add an analysis of ZSS' booty; suggestions like that are an embarrassment to the community.

It's only an embarrassment to insecure people with low self esteem who cares way too mch what other people think about them.

Anyway, I'm sure Venks will do what he sees fit. And so far, he's doing a great job - good DK/Diddy/Fox update!

Music. The Wii U Stages are said to have music from all sorts of game series. Skyloft was shown to have five different musical themes to choose from.

And thanks to everyone else for checking out my guide. I really appreciate it!

No problem! Can you clear up what the themes meant in your blog post?

Interesting. But Sakurai never said he was too big. A lot think this, but he actually said that he might be too slow if made playable.

  • Nintendo Power: There was a rumor at one point about Ridley being playable. Was that ever a consideration?
  • Sakurai: I think that would probably be pretty impossible. [Laughs] If we had put our best efforts into it, we may have been able to do it. But he might have been a little slow. Would that be all right? [Laughs]
Also, notably, he did make it sound like it was unlikely, but size was never once referenced in any interview I've ever seen. Could that be cited first? Likewise, you already mentioned size was irrelevant beforehand, so that more than applies now.

I came here to make this point, but I am fine with reasserting it

no... no.... no.... noooooooo

please, no. All this does is further push bad gender stereotyping into the spotlight of what our community does. There have already been way too many problems with sexism and fighting game communities, let alone video gamers as a whole. Please do not add to this. There is already too much of this going on in real life, the last thing we need on top of that is to hoot at virtual game character's asses.

Please re-evaluate your stance on... respect towards people, in general, before posting about this topic, ever, ever again.

I might of forgotten to update this thread, but that doesn't mean I haven't been hard at work on mu ultimate guide for the Nintendo Direct for Super Smash Bros (Wii U/ 3DS).

Mega Man Moveset Analysis - http://berathen.com/2014/05/megaman-moveset-analysis.php

Out of every section I've written thus far I'd have to say that Mega Man is the largest one. With so many attacks specifically shown off since his reveal there is so much information available. I think Mega Man will be too good at keeping his opponents at bay, but he definitely has plenty of ways to tack on damage as his opponents attempt to get in on him. He has a lot of attacks that can be useful for various situations. This is definitely a character to keep an eye on.

----

Here's some of the others I forgot to post!

Little Mac Moveset Revisited - http://berathen.com/2014/04/little-mac-analysis-2.php

I wrote a moveset analysis for Little Mac back when he was initially announced, but he saw plenty of screentime during the Smash Bros Direct so I felt safe doing a new one. This section goes deeper into Little Mac's moveset discussing his aerial attacks and tilts which we see a bit more of this time around.

Lucario, Mario Bros, and Marth Highlight - http://berathen.com/2014/04/super-smash-bros-nintendo-direct-ultimate-guide-12.php

This is probably one of the shorter sections next to the Donkey Kong one. There isn't a lot to discuss about Lucario, Luigi, Mario, or Marth due to the characters having the same movesets as they did in Brawl. Though Lucario does have a new Final Smash as does Luigi. So I wrap up everything there is to say here.

Not a lot to write about in this one, but figured I'd still update it for completion's sake.

Peach and Pikachu Highlight - http://berathen.com/2014/05/peach-pikachu-smash-highlight.php

These two didn't see a lot of play during the direct so there isn't a lot to say, but here they are none the less.
I really enjoy what you've written. I've read all of it.

I do think that you are incorrect on Peach's Fair: it's always been the crown smack, it's just that the visuals for it didn't make it obvious.

And there's definitely some confusion when it comes to Peach's Uair and up smash; some say she has a new Uair, some say she has different up smashes...

Pika'a Thunder knocking people down instead of up is definitely a paradigm shift. It's not a direct buff or nerf, since it could be used to combo into a kill move, or it might end up making Thunder more easily punished at low percents. We'll have to see.
