Pokey?

Hm.

Yeah, no.

As if it wasn't bad enough that he has absolutely no room to work with his B-moves, there's far more deserving characters in Mother series that need a drop-in besides Pokey.

By "Deserving" I don't mean "OMG PEOPLE FROM EARTHBOUND!", I mean anyone from Mother 3 or Earthbound - any of the main characters, any of the major villains, hell I'd even be happy with Starman, or the Runaway Five, Carpainter, Talah Rama, Flying Man, King the Dog, Master Belch/Puke, or...

Buzz Buzz.

Hell yeah Buzz Buzz for Brawl!

See, I thought he was a main villain. But I only know of this via wikipedia. I have not played Earthbound, although I intend to. PLEase clarify this. Alos, what ould his little Spider mech do in MOther #, and why can't that be used for B moves?

Pokey's the only Earthbound character to appear two times in the series. Ness, Flint, Claus, etc., only appeared once. Pokey is deserving in that aspect.

His B moves can be his mech from Mother 3. I believe he also has stink bombs at his disposal.

In Mother 2, Pokey is a minor villain.
In Mother 3, Pokey is the MAIN villain. Thus, he is counted in your list.

While it is an interesting idea to have his Spider Mech be the "fighting suit" for Brawl, you have to realize that's just not an option.

The whole point is to have Pokey be the villain. As he was in both games. He showed up - only - for the final battle with Giygas in Earthbound. Unless I'm mistaken, he wasn't in it in Mother 3. So, yes, he is the MAIN villain in Mother 3, but that still doesn't change that he'd be difficult - to say the least - to make into a Brawl fighter.

And, honestly, I never considered him a "villain" in Earthbound. You fight him all of one time, and in that instance it's hardly even really "You Vs Pokey," It's "You Vs Giygas (Oh, and Pokey needs to die to finish the fight)".

So what was his role in Mother 3? HE was the mian villain, but he didn't fight with Giygas? Wel, of course he didn't. He was the main vilain, not Giygas. I am confused. And why is having his spider-mech not an option?

I am supporting this character on the principle of Hero, Villain, Sidekick, Damsel; help me out, here.

That's my point.

He was little more than an annoyance through Earthbound, and in Mother 3 the spider mech never showed up (I believe). I think Sakurai would have to take a few hard knocks to the head to even consider it.

Even going further, how would his weight be? What would he use as weapons? How would he fight? If he was in the spider mech, they'd have to do a whole lot of Captain Falcon-izing to make him a feasable character. And about his weight and air floatability...

It'd be like Bowser meets Samus Aran. I dunno. It just seems unlikely and awkward, either from game physics to simple logic.

His weight should atleast be higher than Ness', as he is a fat little *******.
As for floatyness, I have no idea... But I guess he'll get some sorta projectile.
Weapons? I don't think Pokey would use them. However if he does use them in Mother 3... I almost know nothing about that game.

That's what I mean. There's so little to work with for making him a Smash er, I don't think it'd ever work.

If he had PSI, well, then ****. That'd be different.

I haven't gotten to the point where you face Pokey in MOTHER 3 yet, so I'm not sure about there, but he has some moves from the boss fights in Earthbound/MOTHER 2 I hear

EDIT: I got there now :p

Has anyone gotten to fight the final battle with Pokey in Mother 3? It's not even available in English, to my knowledge. So how do we know he has no moves. He needs to have some moves to be a final boss? and the fact that he has a Spdermech needs to lend some possiblities: missiles, flailing legs, rocket boosters, etc.

As for the unliklihood and 'awkwardness' of his movement, that's what makes the character worthwhile. He would be big, and heavy. moderately fast, but with abysmal jumps. Awkward A-moves with odd timing, but decent B moves. Ranged grab/throws via chains. He wouold move unlike[ly?] any other character.

Edit: I finally found a picture-

But I also found a picture of Claus, and now I am conflicted...

As Awesome as Pokey. IN any case, it would be Young pokey in the bed, and Old pokey would be a costume. A attacks would be little sparky things like R2D2 in Return of the Jedi, andflailing the Spider legs around. B moves would be derived from the Boss fight, which I have no idea how I will find out about. Maybe missiles, or lasers or something... Recovery would be Rocket boosters. It would be slow, but last a long time, and have a fairly large hitbox.

I totally support this idea. As unlikely as it is, I think it would be fantastic.
Honestly, Pokey was one of my favorite MOTHER villains.

***Spoilers ahead:***

Pokey, at first, starts as the whiny 'Mid-Boss' of EarthBound, but quickly moves up the ranks from annoyance to downright evil. He prides himself on his own vanity, and uses any means necessary to prove that he is worth something, MORE than Ness. He's manipulative and coniving, going from punk kid to business tycoon to evil entity's envoy to the world.
He fights in a freaking Spider Mech for goodness sake, how is that not awesome?
And even when he's down and out, he refuses to give in, and in the sake of self preservation travels through time.
THEN he forms an entire evil army. Of pig soldiers.
He lives for ages, forgetting even his own age at times because he's lived so long. He becomes a tyrant, through and through.
Yes, he's still a coward, but so are many other villains. He loves power, but he fears losing it. Even moreso, he fears his own mortality.
By the end of MOTHER 3, he doesn't even have to worry about that anymore, as he'll live for eternity, technicaly. All alone.

Now, as for a moveset...
It could be several ways.

If he was in his Spider Mech (Which would be freaking sweet), I could see him being a member of the heavy tier.
I would prefer the younger Pokey's Spider Mech.
It might look awkward, but I could see it being just a little smaller than Bowser, since Pokey would be about the same size as Ness (Just fatter), and thus would fit inside a spider just a bit smaller than Bowser, I believe.
It could use claw attacks, gas attacks, things of that nature. I could totally see Giygas being a Final Smash, as well.
"The nature of the attack was not fully understood!"
*PURPLEDEATHCLOUD*

Orrrrrr Pokey could just be himself. Just because he never fought on his own (Without a Mech) doesn't mean he couldn't try.
Captain Falcon was a driver that was never used outside of his car before Brawl 64. So why not suit Pokey up with maybe some futuristic weapons from the (Spoiler) pig army soldiers?
Could easily be a heavy character, but still be the same height as Ness.

Though his inclusion may be farfetched, I still fully support the idea. My vote would go for the Spider Mech.

PKnight, spoiler tags exist, please us them. Someone can easily accidentally read the spoiler comments in your post.

Either way, great to see this thread back in action

Now now, i know nothing from Earthbound, but isn't this "Claus" also a Villan, but also has a Sword and Sci-Fi stuff?

My Vote is for Claus then.

I saw Pokey in a Mother 3 video, and I am almost completely sure that Pokey will be in SSBB! I can't really explain why, though.

I support Pokey for Brawl. If not playable, then he should be a boss- in his heavily armed spider mech suit, that is.

Pokey should be a boss if anything, he's pretty much old and frail in Mother 3, but I could imagine him wielding his spidermech as some type of boss.

Spoilers Ahead

With today's confirmation of New Pork City as a stage, it wouldn't be that crazy to have Pokey as a boss in subspace emissary. I can imagine how he would be...

He should look somewhat like THIS

Pokey attacks in his Life Support - Spider mech from Mother 3. He uses various projectiles and Laser Beams, and can generate an Energy Shield to protect his mech. Getting in its way is also deadly, as his spider feet are sharp and fast.

He doesn't fight alone either: Numerous Pokey-bots, robots shaped like Pokey himself when he was a young boy, will attack in swarms. They explode after a set amount of time so you better keep an eye on them.

When you defeat Pokey, he encapsulates himself in the Absolutely Safe Machine (tm) and just sits there. You can hit him -to no effect- for a while, and the battle is over.

Awesome idea. I can totally see this happening. I wanna see what the Pig King looks up close, he wasn't that detailed in MOTHER 3.

he most probably be a boss in his spider machine thiny in his mother 3 version (old). I doubt about him being a playable character, unless he is in his spider machine (as he doesnt have any powers), which is to big for a playable character
