Hi Ken!

I'm totally a noob. I place tied for last in almost every tournament I go to, and I use Sheik and Peach, the two easiest characters to pick up, ever. Where and when is this tourney?

Holy sh*t, at first i though Ken was gonna go to a n00b tourney in MI...

I'm a total n00b i lost first round the last tournament i went to. I think that qualifies me as a n00b. Besides, i have no mindgames, and can't do a bunch of those flashy tech tricks.

Edit: is there a prize for this? esp. a giftcard? i like winning gift cards at n00b tournaments...

Gift cards just so happen to be perfect, when you throw them, to remove a person's kidneys. True story.

Can we play on lightning? I only play on lightning mode.

Dunno about yall, but when I was new I'd rather go to a smashfest/tourney with everyone there so that I'd get the opportunity to play people better than me.. as often as possible, then at the same time play others that were less than or equal to myself ... to at least ya know.. learn more about my game and get better so I can actually compete with the better people.. instead of trying to section off the game... before you've attended a tourney yourself o.O??! Don't be skrd. Plenty of people show up of varying skill levels, and as long as you practice the game a bit you'll find people equal to you....

And I kind of doubt that there are many true newbies considering how old the game is... unless you're just banning the top players.

lol, you have no idea how to run a tournament, do you...ill give you a few tips.

if you set up the tournament, and your location dissappears, then its your job to either find a replacement place, or let people know its cancelled.

also, having a tournament for just noobs isnt good for a few reasons. first, unless you want to get worse at the game, youre going to want to play people better than you. you WANT to find someone youll lose to, because theyll be able to tell you what youre doing wrong, what you could do better. second, how are you going to go about judging who's a noob and who's not? going to have tryouts at the front door? then turn people away who actually do try and you say are too good, sending them home after however far they came from? one thing youll learn soon is that its the better players that are actually willing to travel larger distances than down the street to smash. noobs wont go farther than 10-15 mins away unless they really think theyre going to win alot of money. so trying to host a tourney for noobs only in an already not so populated smasher-wise area isnt really going to get you alot of results in the first place. this is the board for competitive smashers, so if youre looking for noob smashers, youre going to have to check somewhere else.

one more thing, its a good idea to attend another's tournament before setting one up yourself, so you can get a feel for how they run and such.

sooo...see you at planet X?

well you shouldnt just forget about it either. sorry if i was harsh...

you should host something...but not a tournament, yet. just have a smashfest. lots of people getting together to smash, but theres no money on the line, so noobs wont be discouraged to show up. its a plus for everyone.

petre's got a point. You should host a smashfest, everyone benefits from them, w/o money on the line. The trick is to get a few really good ppl to go, and then you'll get a ton of ppl to go. So, if you do decide to host something, you should probably change the thread title.
