Hi! I have been playing melee for many years and for the past year I have been playing the game seriously. I felt like I was actually pretty good but when I went to B.E.A.S.T this weekend I noticed that there are a lot of people who are a lot better than me. I was able to win some matches but most of the time I lost. Basically I want to ask for advice on how to get better at the game. I know how to wavedash, dash dance and edgehog but I can't get the hang of things like l-cancel.

1.Play lots and lots and lots and lots.
2.Become really consistent at your tech, being good at movement looks really nice.
3.Watch some videos, but make sure you take something away from each video.
Other than that you should listen to step 1

I play the game with my friends basically every day so that is covered.
I am consistent at the tech I can do but I want to learn stuff like l-cancel

When you L cancel, do a light press instead of a full press. That way you can hard press for a tech if you get knocked down right after.

Make sure to play in as many tournaments as you can, as playing against great players will improve your game significantly as opposed to just playing against the same people that you always do

alot of tech skill is impracticle to practice mid match, i'd pull an m2k and try and consistently shffl attack, and other things, also practicing many different recovery angles for upb's and learning the Waveland on stage from the ledge i'd say are very important things u cant really practice too much with friends
