Newb Fox here

I never thought i see the day I would want to touch fox. Ha ha ha!!! And I cant stand fox. (well Im peach so of course I cant stand him ). Now Im a Peach main who is really good with one character. I cant play with anyone esle just like I do with Peach. Some say its a bad thing, others say play the way you want and use who you want. And playing with other characters is really hard to get good with. Cause all I play is Peach. Oh, and I secondary Zelda. She is somewhat another character I can play with. So play with others feel........wierd......and its hard to use good mindgames with them. I started playing falcon not too long ago. My falcon is......eh..I wont know how to use thier attack right to save myself, space them, etc. Reason like this, me only useing Peach, etc are the reasons I can really use others. So one day I got bored and started playing with fox. then used him against my friend, and I was doing quit well. even against his main and won some fights. So I got interested in him a lil and decided to work with him.

Now reason I want to use Fox is to help me out with peach, thinking fast, good tech skills, etc. I have been at it with Falcon for a while, and my Peach improved with her teching and such, and before I was bad at it. so i wanna use and learn fox and get him as good as my Peach. and it can help my Peach out more. and understand what fox can do and such, so I can improve my match up against Fox with Peach

Sorry for the long easy, I just wanted to explain my situation. Now, I have read around here about fox and what he is all about. And man, I never read so much about a character in my life in this game O___O. well here is what I can do.

- Shine across the stage.

- Drill shine.

- Shine people while returning of the stage for a cheap kill

- ^ same thing but while I am on the edge.

*note I can't do it all that well. its 50/50

Now for things I have trouble with:

-Wave Dash out of the shield to shine and keep doing it

- I cant explain it but the other ways Fox players( more advance ones) use the shine, like in the air, then jump out of it, or instant shine out of no where. I really dont get much of that, nor can I do it

- Hitting with his up-air, even when I up throw. I have a hard time controling him. and Its had for me to get grabs in with him cause of his speed.

So any advice to help get my Fox better? How can I work on some of this stuff. What else am I missing? etc. Thanks in advance. and yes I will continue to read around here to learn more about this dude. thanks in advance

EDIT: Some vids of your fox would be nice. As for hitting people with u-air, just follow their DI and time the uair correct. It's something only more practice can help you with.

something like this on certain characters

waveshine to uthrow to uair
waveshine to usmash
waveshine to utilt
waveshine to dtilt
waveshine to nair
waveshine to fsmash
waveshine to dsmash

There are others you can do.

hey i just started playing with fox to and it happened almost the same way it did with you. i had a bunch of air trouble also. what I do is when you see the opponet at fox's waist then its sweetspotted. JC all grabs i guess and always depend on the up smash. when going from u throw to uair jump with the control stick and just press A its much easier that way for me. I hope that helped you out a bit

Keep practicing waveshines , and canceling aerials into shine those are very useful to start combos, aerial>jc shine>grab is very useful when attacking shields. About your problem with controlling fox.... just play with him more and you should get used to him, learn to dash dance properly and some movement tricks or either surf wavedashing (if you're technical enough) that should get rid of that problem of yours. Check cunning's guide for fox.... that guide is the GUIDE man...

Also you can watch some other players to give you an idea of how fox should be played against certain characters, those players can be M2K, silent wolf, LunInspectra, etc.

Or you can watch my vids, I'm pretty good and technical =P

It's a matter of timing and getting used to the sensitive controls and intense speed. I remember when I started out. Ha ha! It felt impossible to control him. I used to selfdestruct all the time. The short hop used to be hard to do -- I would have to tap the x button like a million times before I even got off the ground -- to make sure not to full jump.

Posting to say I read this pretty late and the your font messes with my eyes.

&also, I use the Y button to full hop then double jump with the control stick for more control when uairing. Its worked for me everytime. maybe you should try it?

I remember Vidjo playing Fox against PC somewhere. Old match, I'll have to dig it up.

Fox takes some time to get accustomed to. Just play him whenever you can, especially in the matchups that you'd actually use him for. So at a tourney, for friendlies, play nothing but Fox, and Fox only. But take breaks if you need them lol.

sorry about my font, I did not think it would bother you. I use it cause I use the Peach in the yellow dress. Daisy. So I like to keep it official hence my name and Font color. Guess this wont work out for some people

Yea I'll need a break alright. Finger tend to hurt trying to play this guy. But yesterday I was playing with him for a while. Then I went to Peach and she felt..........fast........O___O. I'll play with him whenever I can.

Its the other way around for me. I main Peach and I might use him for characters like Fox or Falco. and maybe shiek. The rest, I think my Peach can handle. But I wont be doing that until My fox is just as good as my Peach. So for now in tournaments, its all Peach.......as usual..LAWL.

Ha ha ha, I see Some dont understand why Im called Dark.Pch. I am a Big Peach fan. All nintendo games with Peach in it I use her. If I master Fox, I will always like Peach more. Im a hardcore Peach player dude. And Im only learning fox so I can learn fast thinking and being quick with my fingers. also I was told to pick up ether Fox or falcon to help my Peach out. If some how my Fox becomes better than my Peach, She will still be my main. No way in hell I drop her like that, yet alone like another character over Peach. Im Dark.Pch, its what I do

dont get me wrong, cunning's guide is pretty much the best character guide on smashboards imo. but it was a little daunting, for me anyway, because it has so much text. omni's guide is a little more condensed, its not as complete but it covers the basics imho. but yeah, cunning's guide is the **** too.

Yah,He goes into deep depth about foxes frames,damage,techniqes etc.Omni's guide goes and tells you what to do in matchups and what to do with fox mainly.I recommend both guides.
