new way to figure out character development?

i realized something while browsing smashbros. , samus/zerosuit and snake never appear once in any screenshots. does this mean that they are not as finished with them yet?
or is it because snake is a "secret character" (sakurai said all included 3rd party characters would be unlockable), and that they may not have started normal samus, so that if zero suit and normal samus transform into one another, they have to make samus first in order to make zamus fully playable.

does this mean that if we start seeing them in screenshots, we can assume that a few other characters may have already been developed, or are being developed?

if i have made any mistakes, please tell me.

Once again, people reading way too much into what is essentially nothing. They may not be showing off Zamus and Snake simply because they don't feel like it.

Remember, the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

Up until this latest update, Metaknight's barely been shown at all.

Don't use who they're showing in the updates to decide what characters they are and aren't working on. That would be wishful fanboy logic. Instead, there's probably some actual reason that they aren't using them.
