I just recently got into melee about a month ago, but I have lurked here for a couple of months deciding whether I wanted to get into it or not. I played 64 a bit when I was like 13, but other than that my smash experience is very limited. However, I decided to pick up melee after watching the smash bros documentary. I plan on getting my ass handed to me at CEO this month. I am also trying to find some melee players near me to show me the ropes as I have only started to get L-canceling, short hopping, and fast falling down. I am not quite able to put them together yet, and I haven't really tried learning to Wavedashing yet.

I main marth in Melee so far, though I just recently decided to main him after having mained captain falcon, and I am not completely sure that he is who I will stick with. I also like playing falco, c. falcon, bowser, link, and dr mario.

Outside of smash, I go to the art Institute of Tampa, where I am studying game design. I hope to make competitive games in the future and have always had a passion for the esport scene in all it's facets, though my confidence is fighting games is lackluster.

I have a bit of previous competitive gaming experience as well. I've played halo for about 10 years, and played competitive halo for about 6. I competed in a few local Halo events, where I have done reasonably well (winning 2), and one MLG, where my team got to LBR3. However, with the last two halo titles being completely noncompetitive and unenjoyable to play, Halo's competitive scene is almost dead. I also played Starcraft 2, YuGiOh, Team Fortress 2, Tekken, Quake 3/live, Chess, and occasionally CoD (though CoD is more of a guilty pleasure than anything for me) though I never got too heavily into any of these games.

I wanted to get into this community because It just seems awesome to me and after the death of Halo, I lost my competitive drive to get better at games. I look at melee though and see just how complex and skillful of a game it is. Learning to play a whole new genre of competitive game is quite the experience and I am heavily enjoying it.

I saw the evo incident last year with nintendo blocking and then deciding not to block the event. Seeing the community fight to keep such an old game alive has given me hope for competitive gaming. I wish that Halo would take the route you guys have gone as the new Halo titles are terrible and have almost killed the scene. I have a few Halo friends who double as smash players and they have spoken nothing but praise to this game and the community that surrounds it. I figured with SSB4 coming out, that getting into the scene now would be as good of a time as ever and I really want to see this game succeed.
