Raphael the Raven is one of my favorite characters. Since he has 0 chance of appearing as a PC (maybe an AT?) I think a stage would be awesome. Have it be, well, a moon.
The trick about this stage is that it rotates around an Earth-like planet as time goes on. Every now and then it will pass through a meteor belt if you get hit by a meteor (REALLY rare and hard to do, even on purpose) you WILL be hit into the screen, and die. Now tho, all meteors come in from the back ground, and they pause for a second or two when directly over the stage, if you hit one, (attack or just jump into it) It will get stuck in the moon's gravity and become part of the stage for a while, you can jump on, as well as break them.
The stage it's self is a half circle (See Fig 1). Every now and then the stage will start spinning and you will have to either jump, or run against it. if you just stand still you will get spun off the stage.
